Hi!

So we had the interview on Feb 3rd but i didn't want to post anything until i knew the result - well i just received an email saying that 'production of my card has been ordered' so i take it that's good news (unless it's a commiseration card that says "Piss off back home!" lol).

Well all in all i was quite shocked at the casualness of the whole thing - for all you (legit) couples who are biting your nails i'd say there's nothing to worry about. This place was a lot less sterile than some of the other immigration buildings i've been in. The waiting room was more like a doctors office - they even had a TV and real people who called your name, not just a number!

Two of the couples in the waiting room were interrogated separately - one of them would get taken in for like 20 mins and then brought out and the next one taken in...these were couples who obviously raised some of their flags - significantly older woman etc. Although there was one couple that i thought would get interrogated and didn't - the guy seriously looked like Borat - he had gold medallions and a Lakers tracksuit from like 1993 and he was with a noticeably older woman but i guess love comes in many forms :D (don't take this seriously by the way i'm only playing).

So we were taken in to this guys office - just a regular office with his family pics and files all over the desk and floor. Other IOs kept coming in during the interview to ask him how to do certain things, it was so casual! No white walls, no metal desk, no fluorescent lamps overhead ;) . So he asked us how we met, asked for a few docs - birth certs, marriage certs, immigration docs. He told me that i gave him the wrong marriage cert - that i should have brought the one i got at the chapel and i told him i thought you're supposed to bring the certified copy so i left the other one at home then he was like 'ok' (don't know if that was a trick question or not?!). Then he asked for evidence of marriage and i slapped the big folder on the desk of all our proof of address going back several years - he told me to give him one bill / piece of mail for each company then he walked out to copy our docs and said just put any other evidence on a pile so i put the rest of our bits and bobs on there (i forgot to give him all the photos i'd printed out but i guess it didn't matter).

When he came back he said that they just need to do a background check and that i should hear from them within 45 days. Then he told us to let ourselves out and that was it! All done for a couple of years i guess..... :P

Congratulations! That's awesome!

Btw... this quote made me laugh!...

Although there was one couple - the guy seriously looked like Borat - he had gold medallions and a Lakers tracksuit from like 1993 :D (don't take this seriously by the way i'm only playing).

We found it amusing too at our interview there was a girl in a bright pink dress like something you'd wear to a nightclub... except it was 8:30 am... Like hey USCIS interview... lets party!

Of course it doesn't matter has nothing to do with the case what you look / dress like. But def surprising what some people pick to go to a govt interview...

Though come to think of it maybe its a ploy to ensure their case isn't instantly forgotten... Picturing at the end of the day an IO going through the cases then thinking hmmm did I remember to approve that couple with the medallions and the crazy outfits on?

Congrats on the approval.

So, you had you interview on the 3rd then received your e-mail on the 7th? I'm trying to get an idea of when I might receive my approval e-mail. I had my interview on the 4th and I am hoping/praying that I receive the approval e-mail soon. What time of the day did your e-mail come in? All my other NOA e-mails all seemed to apprear in my in-box at weird times, 8pm, 9pm and 11pm???

Problem is, I am set to leave the country next week, so I need the approval notice in order to make an infopass appointment to get my passport stamped with the I-551 stamp. I'm starting to freak out a little.
