This will sound strange to you but they will take you envelope in Canada because you will be processed by US immigration. Why? because the US has the border guards at the airport in CANADA

Yeah I never thought about the borders. I know what you mean now. Thanks

I'm not sure why you would give your paperwork over in Canada because you're not IN the US. If you're confused ask them when you land. They can't in all honestly take your paperwork as far as i'm aware, but when i doubt, ask when you get there.
Technically, if he transits through Pearson (, Dorval, Vancouver, Calgary,...) he WOULD be handing over the papers on Canadian territory; but it would still be handed over to US government (CBP) at the PFI.

The Canadian Immigration/Customs officials will probably tell the OP to take the papers upstairs (PFI's are on departure level) to "US Destinations" and hand them over there. The one difficulty he could face is that of goods-limits (Canada has a much lower goods-limit than US--and I don't know how they apply it for those transitting Canada to US).

The POE is the first time you hit US soil on a multi-leg trip.

If you are transiting through other countr(ies) you are not entering their soil.

That has no impact on US immigration.

Be sure the immigration official spells your name correctly on the I-94 entry ticket.

Any mistake thereon is your responsibility to correct - it takes an additional

trip to the nearest large international airport (it may not be the airport closest to where

you live) in order for THEM to correct their mistake. We were fortunate to live within

reasonable distance to JFK. There should be no charge to correct a misspelling,

but if you lose the I-94 ticket it would cost $320 to have a replacement.

I am not sure if you missed the other posts in t is thread but it has already been explained that if she does come through Canada it is more then likely the OP will have to hand over the visa packet there because they will more then likely pass through immigration at the Canadian airport
