Iran anniversary 'punch' will stun West: Khamenei

I was just listening to a report on the BBC this hour about the Iranian situation and the use by the protesters to organize by using new media and the Iranian governments response to that. They said that it is something unprecedented that we're seeing and that there is no real leaders of this movement. It's a post as you go thing where someone says meet here at this time between such and such block and a group forms. The more interesting part of the story was how Iran learned from this and responded. They claim that Iran has assembled a cyber army that controls the speed of the internet and also goes out and monitors websites and takes down things. I was remembering that the recent attacks on the US internet were speculated to be coming from China as a test over the Google issue but now I'm wondering if we need to be looking at this tech army that Iran has assembled and if that has anything to do with the statement of "punch in the mouth to the arrogant west".

Cyber wars and Cyber terrorism should be one consideration beyond the constant speculation about their nuclear ambitions. Iran is unique in that their dealing with this new media "movement" within their own country and evolving and learning from it. To shut down the internet in another country would delay banking and other every day activities. I had to write a whole report on it for one of my classes last semester and reference a case that NATO had to deal with in regards to what happened in Estonia.

Ok, don't know if it feels like a 'punch' but the announcement that President's Mahmoud and Chavez came out of the closet and declared their love for each other, and that Khamenei would preside over their domestic partner ceremony was pretty shocking!!!
