12/07/2012: 10 year card production ordered.

09/25/2013: N-400 NOA1

10/16/2013: Biometrics completed

12/03/2013: Interview

I would hire an extremely competent immigration attorney, if you can afford one. You're going to need it. Likely as soon as USCIS finds out where you are, they're going to come after you with removal proceedings.

I really have no idea how you can convince them to adjust your status at this point without first leaving the country, and then you're going to have to apply for a waiver for your (extreme) overstay, just to get back into the country.

Successful completion of AOS FROM INSIDE THE USA for people in the same situation as the OP occur everyday. It is best for the OP to start the process as quickly as possible but the alien spouse SHOULD NOT leave the USA until completion

Simply file the papers.

Document the file well with plenty of evidence of your marriage. At this point there's no excuse for not having loads of it.

No need for letters groveling for forgiveness. Don't open up Pandora's box - it's going to be obvious how long you have been out of status. If you get questions answer them honestly at the interview.

It wouldn't hurt to have an attorney consult to make sure there aren't any wrinkles with your case we don't know about.

And you have to become a permanent resident before you can naturalize. In case you were wondering.
