My husband is from San Bartolo, very nice and inexpensive beach town which is about 1/2 hour (more in bus) from Chorrillos, Lima. We usually stay there on the beach and also go to the beach at the neighboring areas of Santa Maria del Mar, Punta Negra & Punta Hermosa. Any one of these would be ideal because they're a short distance from Lima and accessible by taxi or bus.

You can also go north of Lima, there are some excellent beach areas in the north... like Mancora. But you're looking at a longer travel time and less access to Lima.

The summer basically ends in March but last time I went in March and the water was comfortable temperature and people were still at the beach on the weekends. Have a great time!!!

Hi everyone, thanks for the suggestions for the beach house near Lima. We will check out the areas near San Bartolo and Santa Maria. We're trying to arrange all from here (US) so we truly appreciate the help identifying places to look and contact. If there is a contact for a house you especially liked we'd love to hear about it. You can PM me if you prefer.

We're leaving for Lima in less than two weeks and we're excited! :)
