I can picture Arnold with the Olympic Flame now, and not wanting to take the designated path and then he'll whisper, ''I'll be back.''

Totally!

I was looking at all the rosters yesterday, and I think there are SEVEN teams that have a legitimate shot at gold:

Canada

United States

Czech Republic

Slovakia

Russia

Sweden

Finland

I really don't think Canada is going to win gold this year...not in hockey, at least. The U.S. team looks really good, as does Russia. I'm really surprised at how great Slovakia looks too! It's going to be awesome to see Ziggy Palffy back on the ice again. One of the most underrated players when he was in the NHL.

It's going to rock so much I can't wait lol. I'm personally looking forward to watching as many games with Canada, the US, Russia, or Sweden. I want to see my ol' boy Forsberg ripping it up, hopefully not on a gimpy ankle or destroyed rib :)

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

Totally! I'm really hoping TV coverage here in Vancouver will include some of the non-Canada hockey games. I'd LOVE to see Slovakia versus the Czech Republic...or Russia versus Sweden...or any combination of the seven teams I listed above.

And Bowflex, it looks like we've got even more in common: I'm a big Forsberg fan too! He was my favorite non-Canuck player when he played in the NHL. It always makes for entertaining conversations between my wife and I, because she HATES Forsberg. :P

Haha Right there with you.

Unfortunately I've tried to show my wife the awesomeness that was Forsberg but she didn't become a hockey fan until I brain-washed her and unfortunately that process didn't start until after they low-balled him with a pitiful contract and he bolted for Philly :( Lol

Yeah. As a Canucks fan, my favorite games were always with the Avs. There was a SERIOUS rivalry there. The Canucks usually got the short end of the stick in the series, but the games were always so incredibly entertaining to watch...until Bertuzzi sucker-punched Steve Moore. The rivalry was never the same after that. It's funny -- just last night, when I was talking to my wife about Foppa being on Team Sweden, she reminded me of how heated that game was before that happened. Really, all the elements were there. Canucks were being positively routed (it was 9-1 at the time of the hit, I think...final score was 9-2, as I recall), and the game was clearly out of the hands of the refs. I remember at the time saying aloud that the refs should call the game...that there should be a forfeit or something (which I'm always against). It was just that intense. And sure enough, Bert did his thing, the NHL had a lockout, and the rivalry just wasn't there between the two teams anymore.

I still love hockey, obviously...but I really miss that rivalry. The Canucks - Flames rivalry isn't nearly as intense as the Canucks - Avs one used to be.

Hopefully when I move to D.C. next month I'll be able to enjoy the Caps - Pens rivalry to its fullest!

As a Sabres fan, I'm looking forward to Ryan Miller's performance in goal for Team USA. Hopefully nothing awkward happens that hinders his return after the Olympics. Got a nice run to the playoffs going on here in Western NY for a change. :-D

Yesterday, I slept in and couldn't get to work early enough to meet the Olympic mascots Miga & Quatchi. Also missed the corporate free pancake breakfast...oh well. :-(

Yup! My wife was born and raised in Buffalo, and is naturally a Sabres fan as well.

I'm predicting that the U.S. gets at least a medal this year. Miller is fantastic this year.

Got to see the torch come through Sarnia when I was up that way around Christmas. Pretty neat, but I must admit an urge to start shouting "USA! USA! USA!". If I had done that I might have gotten run out of town, tough crowd, that.

I didn't think scary...more...well, childish. I don't think they're very endearing.

You should have seen the reaction when they were first unveiled a couple of years or so ago... There was a major press conference to unveil them, and I remember watching it live, only to say, #######!?!? when they were revealed.

The thing is...most adults find them childish and very much like oriental cartoon figures. BUT, kids love them. They really do. And I guess that's what makes the most money..."Mom, can I get a Quatchi?"
