I can't wait for all the epic men's hockey games that are in store, it's like the Super Bowl every day for me :)

Totally!

I was looking at all the rosters yesterday, and I think there are SEVEN teams that have a legitimate shot at gold:

Canada

United States

Czech Republic

Slovakia

Russia

Sweden

Finland

I really don't think Canada is going to win gold this year...not in hockey, at least. The U.S. team looks really good, as does Russia. I'm really surprised at how great Slovakia looks too! It's going to be awesome to see Ziggy Palffy back on the ice again. One of the most underrated players when he was in the NHL.

I can't wait for the most pointless sport ever: TWO MAN LUGE!!

There is no way I would want to be in that much contact with another human. Besides my husband of course, lol. I think during the last Olympics Matt Lauer and Al Roker from the Today Show tried to do the 2 man luge and I couldn't decide whether to laugh or vomit!

I will say I have always thought the only Olympic sport I could compete in was the skeleton. I am crazy like that. :jest:

I saw the torch too! It went through my home town. It was kind of funny, because to be honest, I based my time-off around the holidays on where the torch was going to be! HAH.

It was going through my hometown on the 23rd (where my parents are), and then London on the 24th (Christmas Eve!)... that would've been the complete opposite of where I was planning to be for the holidays.... so I took an extra day off work (edit: technically I didn't.. I came back a day early too, so I just 'shifted' my time off... lol) and went to my parents' place early, and saw it go through there. lol I missed the bigger celebration in London, but that's ok. I was 'front row' and got some pics too :)

The smiley Coca-Cola truck leading the way with my mom's flag waving in front... hahaha

I too am a bit sad that I will miss seeing it broadcast on Canadian television. I don't care how the U.S. does :P

Funnily enough, Ahnold has been outspoken about keeping the film industry in California, and has tried to dissuade filmmakers from coming up to Vancouver (a.k.a. Hollywood North) to shoot their movies.

It's not that I blame him -- he's the governor AND a former movie star -- but I find it a tad strange that he's eager to carry the torch (and that VANOC is eager to GIVE it to him...) in a city he has spoken out against in the past.

I keep imaging him escaping with the flame and disappearing. Let's hope that won't be the case. But maybe carrying the flame is his way of gaining even more stardom, or repenting. Something like that.

Whats with the terminator participating in it?? Is it based on him promoting a healthy lifestyle or what??

I'll watch the Olympics, but I don't think its as big as event as it used to be! Years ago, there was very little sports on TV--hockey only on Sat night for the most part, some sat afternoon sports coverage of other sports. Now 1 can watch it 24 hrs a day!! So some of that excitement of the Olympics sports coverage has died down, at least for me!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
