To all those who got their NOA2s, PLEASE RESPOND!

My I-130 and I-129F cases were "touched" for the 2nd time on Jan 27th 2010 (California Service Center), according to the USCIS case status website. The initial touch was after the 2 cases were "married" on Oct 27th 2009 (I-130 NOA1 date 10-13-09; I-129F NOA1 date 10-22-09). One of our VJers got his text/email NOA2 approval notice THE SAME DAY that they were updated on the case status website. So I'm sort of freaking out here as to why it is taking them so long to approve mine. So while I know that my cases are finally being looked at or got looked at (after 3 long months of sitting in a pile in Laguna Niguel), it has been over a week and a half. How long do FBI and security checks take???? Obviously I have no criminal records.

To those who have recently received their NOA2s, how long did it take you from getting the 2nd touch ie when they looked at your cases to receiving approval??!?! Please respond, as I'm starting to wonder if something is wrong with my case. Thanks in advance!

I should also mention that I have a Ph.D in Biochemistry and have done HIV vaccine work (have published many scientific research papers) - could it be possible that they're doing an indepth check on me cuz they think that b/c I have worked on viruses, that there could be some kind of bioterrorism threat (far from it, cuz I worked on the VACCINE)??!? Anyone who has had experience with FBI checks - please do respond!

All I know is that usually 3 to 3 1/2 months after you send in your petition, you get the approval notice. I have always been 100% organized and everything nice and neatly done, so maybe that makes a difference, you make their job easy, then they make it easy for you. I've done this 3 times and all 3 times were the same.

Oh beleive me, I sent the paperwork in w/o any messes at all. Everything was neatly typed and I followed the VJ guide for even the order of the paperwork. I know that my cases got looked at on the 27th; question is if they're looking at the cases, then what's the delay in the approval? If they want an RFE, they should've notified me by now by email or something. Even postal notices dont take a week and half (I'm in New York and case is in California service center). I called up USCIS and they dont even have the update dates, as it is a service that only you get when you sign up and get a portfolio online; ie we know more than they do. SO they havce been useless in giving any information...

My petition was touched on Jan. 4th, but I am pretty sure that that was just because I had changed my address a few days earlier. It was then touched on the 22nd and the 23rd and on the 24th I received the text message/email saying it had been approved on the 22nd. It was then sent to the NVC within a couple of days and at the consulate within a week. Now we are just waiting for the interview. We submitted the I-130 and I-129f on September 7th and 17th respectively. So it took about 4.5 months from initial petition to being approved. So, I would imagine that your approvals will be coming soon. Good luck and hope this helps.

I know exactly how you feel. I have been waiting for my NAO2 also and is driving me crazy. I have seen people that apply the same day I have and already received their 2nd letter. So I can relate to you. I have no idea what those people at CSC do all they long. It should not take this long.

I have a freight liner full of empathy for you right now...

I don't know WHAT is up with CSC. When we started this process we were watching people get approved right around the 90 day mark. The wait would be some-what bearable if they would just TELL US what's going on! The information black-hole is just unacceptable. Something has to be done to change it. There is no reason why we have to be okay with the status-quo. I've got a list of law-makers I plan on writing as soon as our petition goes through (not taking any chances). If there is anything that can be done, I'm going to try. It won't help me (or you), but perhaps it can help someone down the line. I'm starting with Ombudsman, and moving on from there.

Again, it's not so much the wait as the complete lack of information that is driving me crazy.
