My fiance and myself have a doubt:

The affidavit of support must be sent with prior year USC income tax return ( in this case, 2009) or the income tax returns from 2007 and 2008 are needed too?. .My fiance's income in 2009 was twice the minimum of the povertyline ...

Thanks for your replies.

Read the I-864 instructions...

Here's a copy-paste from page 8 of the I-864:

"You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years."

I see 3 most recent years recommended on VJ. You can order your tax returns for free from the IRS.

I'm guessing this depends on the Embassy. For Indonesia, they only need the last year tax return.

For us, they only requested tax return/transcript 2008 since I haven't got 2009 W2 before the interview.

Thanks for your replies.

It is my understanding that CDJ does not require an affidavit of support

Someone who had gone for the interview in Ciudad Juarez recently?

My fiance is concerned about this because as I said before, he doesn't have any problem related to 2009 and his current economic stability but in 2008 he did a little less than the minimum required (he was working in another company) so he wants to make sure..
