Remove the religious labels and the story takes on a whole different meaning.

To be fair, in a muslim Country all the Lawyers involved would be Muslim so I agree "That fact" does not have a religious context..... but explain for the court if you will, For what other motive would such a death threat go out, if not for the defense of the Muslim who committed this torture an murder of a Christian child?

MAybe there is something I had not thought about.

It's a story about corruption, not about Muslim vs Christian.

It's pretty horrible and tragic for sure, but it's not a 'new low' for muslims or whatever the heck else JG suggested.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Actually par-for-course in a nation where two unremorseful war-criminals were appointed as Army (which bore primary responsibility for war-crimes) chief (and where a third war-criminal appointed himself to that post) of which one took over as dictator!

Good points.

I am sure the story is true, that the person who perpetrated the crime does not want to be tried and it may well be that he perpetrated the crime on the girl because she was christian, at least in part. Who the heck knows why a pervert will abuse girls? However, it's not something that is somehow indicative of what it is to be a muslim and nor does it indicate a further sinking into the depths of depravity by muslims. It's a corrupt guy taking advantage of poor young girls because he can.

That does not change the fact that Christians are a persecuted minority and that an entire group of men who claim to represent justice and who are also Muslim are effectively extremists acting in a similar manner to terrorists.

You cannot separate the issue of religion from this case.

Yes it would be the same. I will say for the suspect himself its too early to tell. We need to see the motive in a court of law. IE. does the suspect have a history of violence against Christians or minorities in general.

However my reaction is more to the body of men protecting him.

We could start with child labor laws. With all that money we give Pakistan, it wouldn't be unreasonable to impose labor laws that protect children from exploitation.

To be fair they do have them, they are just very lenient by western standards. For instance to work most jobs you have to be 14. Hazardous positions I believe are 15.

There doesn't appear to be a law for domestic work.

In simple terms, Mr. Danno.

There is a venue or path for which to start a business in the community. If you're new, you have to traverse those regulations to make sure your business runs well. One of those indicators is that you know someone who is in charge of the law, make him feel comfortable in that position if you want to succeed.

The way the story goes in places like this community; Anything that is detrimental to the power holder is also lethal to you.

It's not as what you wished that you could simply go to the court house and file a petition for corruption. It could turn out that the person who is overlooking that petition is someone who has high authority to hire assassins, or better yet, make your life a living hell because he has the power to weld attorneys in his favor by threatening them of disbarment or even deaths.

You never have to worry that I might assume -every country is like the US.

That fact alone is why I want immigration reform.

Now explain how RUN OF THE MILL business corruption to protect ones business turf has anything to do with this case?

Are you suggesting a lawyer defending this childs right to just would steal business away from all these Lawyers?

As team Obama might say..... "That if FN retarded".

What issue of religion? The issue is, is the guy corrupt and capable of denying justice to the girl's family? The answer appears to be yes. There is nothing 'religious' about this case. If he had raped a muslm girl (and there is no doubt in my mind that he is quite capable of doing just that) the muslim girl would undoubtedly be denied justice. This guy would deny justice to anyone, of any religion, colour or creed who stood in his corrupt path.

The only laws Pakistan has in practice since 1969 are:
  • if you are a non-mullah civilian, you don't question a mullah or a soldier
  • none except a higher rank questions a soldier, especially when he's doing crimes
  • none at all questions the army chief of staff EVER

What is the 'religious' motive in this case? Are you suggesting that the only reason that the girl's family is being denied justice is because they are christians?
