but regardless to who reports the story dont you think this is a story that needs to get out there. Poor girl and now these thuggish lawyers are protecting this scumbag.

I imagine this pro-christian website jumped on this story rather quickly because the girl was Christian but who cares this is a sad sick case that has nothing to do with religion unless the courts and people dont take it as serious because she was a Christian.

Injustice happens everywhere all the time. What makes this story any different than the hundreds of other stories of the same?

Face it this is newsworthy but your sensitive to the fact that this might look bad for Muslims and now your trying to minimize it, frustrating. I say we just make it about this little girl and see what we cant do to make sure she gets the justice she deserves.

Yes true but if under any circumstances she doesnt get the justice she deserves because she was a Christian then I and others will have every right to be outraged and point out that the fact that because she was a Christian she didnt get the justice she deserved. I think that religion does need to be mentioned in this story because these scumbags could easily think that she is less of a person because she was a Christian.

I think what there shooting for is that they think stories like this are pointed out because with these Christians its more about making Muslims look bad than it is about the cruel things that have happened to this girl. I disagree with there POV of course.

Islamabad (AsiaNews) - Because of the threats posed by the powerful Lahore Bar Association – an umbrella organization of city lawyers - no Christian or Muslim lawyer is ready to take on the defence in the murder of 12 year-old Shazia Bashir, it was reported yesterday by The Pakistani Christian association that deals with legal assistance.

The girl, of Christian faith, died on Jan. 23 as a result of violence - even sexual – at the hands of her employer, a wealthy and powerful Muslim lawyer in Lahore. The alleged murderess, Chaudhry Mohammad Naeem, is a former president of the Lahore High Court Bar Association. The girl, just 12 years old, had worked as a maid in the home of Naeem in the last six months.

The Center for Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement (CLAAS) denounces that access to the courtroom where the court hearings were held against the accused was denied, because a group of Muslim lawyers (pictured) 'prevented' entry. The association is fighting - for free - for the rights of the poorest and marginalized groups has been threatened by thousands of lawyers - friends of the murderer - that promise to burn alive anyone who wants to represent the victim in court. "

Joseph Francis, director of Claas, asked members of civil society, political and religious leaders to rise up and take steps to "condemn this new form of terrorism" by lawyers who "should ensure justice." The court, however, has only partly accepted the request, ruling only four days in jail.
