Vaccination Documentation Worksheet - Varicella "VH"

The document from the hospital in Thailand had "VH" under "Completed Services" for Varicella (chicken pox).

I think a civil surgeon wouldn't let this pass - anyone have that experience?

It means the Panel Physician certified that she had "varicella history" (she had chickenpox). So that allows her to have the Varicella immunization waived. Yes, we had that VH on the form from the UK and AOS was approved without getting a varicella shot.

In my case they told me to get the varicella test also to see If I already have it. I told them that I did and give them the year when I had it and even show them some scars in my body. Then the CS nurse didn't force me to have it done. They just put a remarks in my form under varicella history 1991. Try to talk to the civil surgeon and give the specific year you have it. :) In my case my scars are obvious I made it a very strong evidence. lol

I don't think it matters, varicella zoster is no longer on the required list for immunizations.

Ummm no.

ZOSTER is not required, but for the purposes of immigration vaccination, varicella and zoster are treated as two different things...

Edited to add: While Zoster isn't required anymore, history of varicella or the vaccination for it, are.

Thanks - that's what I had hoped.

We haven't chosen a CS yet but most of the phone contacts have been scammers who don't want to hear about doing transcription.

We're good to go as far as the medical

but have to have it certified by someone

who won't keep her coming back for the next 3 weeks

for unnecessary tests.

ZOSTER is not required, but varicella and zoster and two different things...

"Varicella-zoster virus is known by many names, including: chickenpox virus, varicella virus, zoster virus, and human herpes virus type 3 (HHV-3)."

They appear to be the same virus, but varicella zoster is the name associated

with "shingles" which strikes older folks and is caused by the same virus that

causes chickenpox in young-uns.

Varicella zoster

I don't know if there is an actual immunization for varicella zoster, but the one

required for AOS is chicken pox.

My ex had a mild case of shingles early on.

It never came back (to the best of my knowlege).

I hate to pull rank here, but i'm a microbiologist by trade.

They are the same thing. The technical name is human herpes virus 3. It causes both chickenpox and shingles, and once you get it, it's for life. Shingles is when you get a flare up of chickenpox, or varicella zoster, later in life. As my virology professor liked to say "love is temporary, herpes is forever"

I did say they were the same virus, but any info from a microbiologist is welcome.

But are you saying the vaccination for shingles is the same as for chicken pox?

That was the distinction I was trying to make.

I know shingles comes from the chicken pox virus.
