Hello everyone!

First of all, thank everyone here on VJ for all the incredible information and the sharing of their individual experiences. It's really helped me get my mind around the, initially, daunting amount of information about the various visas.

My fiancee and I met in June of last year and after six months of skype and phone calls, we finally met during the '09 holidays. It was incredibly brilliant.

As of now, we're going to go for the B-2 Visa so she can be in the States for six months, and we can really iron out a lot of the bumps that come, not only a new relationship, but living together as well.

Close to the end of her stay, we plan on getting married in a small ceremony, and then have her return to the UK while we wait for the CR1/IR1 process to make its way through. From the things I've read here, this seems to be a common and correct way to do things, but if I'm missing something, I'd appreciate someone setting me straight. The last thing we want to do is violate any immigration laws.

We had thought about doing the K1 visa, but it seemed to us that this way worked better for us. Especially since now the K3 seems to be obsolete.

Welcome to VJ. There's a sub-forum here for people from the UK if you haven't found it yet.

I don't want to immediately burst your bubble but your fiance should think very carefully about applying for a B2 visa through London. They rarely issue them to people who are eligible to use the VWP and if the visa is refused she will have to declare it on any future visits and will likely end up in secondary.

Just something to think very carefully about.

Thanks English Muffin. I didn't think they would be so picky about issuing a B2 at the London Embassy. I've posted a question over in the UK forum. Thanks again for pointing this out, I didn't know it could be so problematic.
