Many Christians looked up to Mel Gibson as their champion against the godless Hollywood elitists when he made Passion of Christ. There were churches across the country willing to show the movie if it didn't find an audience at the theaters and many churches were encouraging their congregation to go see the movie. The argument was made that movie are just entertainment and that isn't necessarily true, just as books are simply for entertainment value. It is relevant that his movie grossed over $800 million worldwide. Do you really think people were just viewing for it's entertainment value?

Finally something said by Steven&Jinky that is actually true! That I can aggree with! Yes I had free tickets to this movie tossed at me ten ways to sunday by various churches. I had already seen it for free and didn't take up the other free offers or viewings. It was a pretty good movie as far as goes the religious genre I felt. And for free it was a damn good movie.

I consider myself a champion but I do not look up to Mel Gibson as anything other than an Actor.
