people really needs to get over this whole mel gibson thing. He is just an actor. Who cares what he believes or thinks.

Well I for one would be outraged if I was Catholic. Here's this massively rich and famous actor, making a movie about the crucifixion of Jesus, putting on this show of being so spiritual...when really he's an anti-semitic raging lunatic.

The power given to Hollywood is absolutly ridiculous. They are actors. They provide entertainment. You know what if he or anyone else would have come out and made a comment about christians or muslims, no one would care. Seriously people really need to get over it. If it bothers you so much, don't watch his movies.

If an elected official had made these comments, it would be a different story.

Movies aren't just entertainment - they can have a profound effect on people (Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, for example). Whether it is a sad commentary on our society or not, there are more people who watch movies than read books, and in some societies, books have been burned or banned for being 'dangerous'.

(BTW...Mel Gibson's Passion of Christ made over $800 million worldwide.)

I'm not outraged....he doesn't speak for all Catholics, he doesn't speak for me. He's just a guy- flawed like the rest of us. People are just jumping on this bandwagon because of the movie he made.

No one is perfect....and to expect he's not flawed is ridiculous. I really couldn't give a schit what he thinks cos that's his stuff to work out, and it's got nowt to do with me. Because I don't know Mel personally, I'm going to err on the side of caution and accept his statement for truth....he's got an alcoholism problem, and sometimes under alcohol, people say some crazy schit. To call someone a 'lunatic' just cos of a tabloid-esque blurb in the paper is really quite hyperbolic & ignorant, tho.

At the end of the day, it doesn't factor into my grande scheme of life, so I really don't care.

And they're still regular people....get over it :)

If you want people in the entertainment industry to take accountability for their work based on the sheer numbers it generates, you yourself should take responsibility for taking part in the gaming industry - which to your own admission is a cause of kids being too exposed to violence & stuff/

gibson is a chopf##k

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Did I advocate censorship? You read far more into what I post than is there. You're admiration is scaring me.

I believe there was a South Park episode that already addressed that

As am I. Not sure why we as Catholics should be offended because Mel said some stupid things. He is not speaking from an authority role.

yet those in hollywood seem to think that being an actor makes them instantly smarter than many. as in sean penn's visit to the middle east. here we have a guy with a high school education thinking he knows more about regional politics than people who have studied and trained in that field for over 40 years.

all because he's an actor!

Well, I still feel let down by him (not as a Catholic, but as a Christian). I can handle the drunk thing, it's the Jew-ranting that irritates me.

You should be! Muslims are expected to show the utmost amount of outrage everytime some nutcase does something and calls himself a muslim... by non-muslims I mean... ;)

You should personally stone him!
