So Les, how did you obtain all this #######? Did you take your marriage certificate to the immigration office and they gave them to you to take home? Or did you fill them out there, hand over the cash and they sent them off? What's the process of it all?

Sorry for my questions, this last week has been hectic with scheduling, thanksgiving and the wedding, parents...oh goodness, parents....and umm, the Army. So my mind is scattered.

Look up top under guides. There is a specific section for AOS. It tells you everything you need, how to assemble, what doc's you need, & what forms. This all goes to the Chicago Lockbox with your check. One thing, you can't send it until you receive your marriage cert. after the wedding.

Deep breath Bri! You will do fine...one step at a time. Marriage first! Can't wait to hear all about it! Good luck this w/e!!!!

I wish a happy Thanksgiving to the Feb. filer group. The first holiday for new spouses. I hope that it goes well for all of us. There are land mines to step around. Aunt Sarah's green been casaroul, grandma's fruit cake, sweet potatoes with melted marshmellows, NFL football, the backyard football game, that one uncle who insists on unbuttoning his pants at the table so he can keep eating, the weird cousin who can't have an intelligent conversation about anything, the crazy people at the shopping centers, and the aunt that gives very uncomfortable hugs. Welcome to America, the land of the dysfunctional.LOL. I hope our significant others don't leave us after this experience.

I've already laid out the whole long weekend for Veka. "I'm watching college football and hunting. Here's money, go shopping." That is basically the plan except the mandatory dinner with the family. It is hunting season. As long as I promise her more jerky. By the way, she killed that big bag quickly. I hope that she survives the shopping on Friday. I will be at hunt camp.

Lohninck, for Christmas I will take a new leopard skin thong. My last one got too stretched out. I will leave on that note.

So, already I am being screwed over during this AOS process. I sent it in Nov 16th & they received it the next day. Today I get the package returned to me saying "rejected" They, of course weren't specific, just saying that a form is outdated. We downloaded the forms from their own site & filled them in that day & mailed them the next. So, of course we have to call to find out exactly what they didn't like. The I-485 form was the culprit. Apparently, they accept forms by the revised date in the bottom right hand corner of the forms. So, the date being accepted for the I-485 has a date of Nov 23rd. My rejection letter is dated Nov 19th. Someone explain to me why they are rejecting my app 4 days before the new version even is put on the site????? :bonk:

So, everyone who hasn't filed AOS...make sure you check the revision dates on your forms. The USCIS site tells you the acceptable revision dates.

What a scam.

Wow, what a load of bs, seriously. I can't believe they'd get that technical and b*tchy about it. I'm reeeeeeeally looking forward to doing this now. :bonk:

Apart from this hell hole, how's the actual adjusting going, girl? Still really missing your son? :( I had no idea you had a 21 year old son, you look about 25 in your pictures!

Hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving. Peter really loved it, had everything on the table, and we went out Black Friday shopping this morning at Target. All my Christmas shopping is done, wrapped, and waiting for December 25th. The countdown begins.

Congrats on finishing your Xmas shopping! I get to ignore Xmas this year since the wedding is Dec. 11th & we won't get home from Hawaii until the 16th. I hate Xmas, so all is good!

Yup, still missing my baby. Every time I think about him my heart just breaks. Settling in alright. Had a very good first American Thanksgiving. Got to celebrate 2 this year. The Canadian Thanksgiving was in Oct.

Yeah, USICS is a thorn in my side already. Don't know who is worse now, the Montreal Consulate or USICS.

This waiting nightmare continues.....

You know, this whole thing is such ####### figuring we were hoping to have her here by now for the holidays... Now we'll be apart for the whole damn thing... Stupid process..... ugh.

Still no packet 4 yet..... Earliest damn interview dates showing online are for MARCH!!!! I mean what the hell???? So that means another 3-5 months it looks like before she'll even have a hope of getting here. Way too damn long. Complete disasterous nightmare.

Yeah I'm ranting, but it's just ugh....

That is super crummy that you both will be apart over the Christmas holidays. We waited 61 days between the packet 3/packet 4 ordeal. But, once you get the actual packet 4, it's a matter of Van opening the envelope and running upstairs to a computer to choose the first available interview date. And realistically, she can still travel back and forth because they don't take your passport until the Consulate interview. You then get it back with the visa stickered inside of your passport approx. 1week from the date of interview, then boom, she could be on a flight just after that!

Word of advice though...make copies of copies, make sure Van has her "long form" birth certificate, make sure she has $350USD CASH to pay for the processing fee - and then seriously, she'll be out within 2hrs and on her way back to her hotel. There is a burger king within walking distance, there is a western union within walking distance and there is a timmy ho's within walking distance. So she'll be set for the day providing she has all her infos and monies.

So, judging by your timeline, you should receive the packet 4 just after Christmas or New Years depending on how the govt feels, and then she'll have 2mths or so to sweat it out before interview time! Which, in all honesty, was a piece of cake. The guy I had was sarcastic and funny, and the interviewer was super short for a guy and he had to sit in a high chair to talk to me through the window. It's all very casual and laid back. So, she'll do great and by spring you both will never have to be separated again. :)

Darn, we have gotten so lame here. We need more debauchery. I'm at fault too. Work, hunting, and the tall bonde Russkie have been taking up my time.

Lohninck, the thong should be 30 inch waist with a large holding tank up front. Don't worry, I will put a sock in there to fill it up.
