Have been looking at what/ how to go about getting our vaccinations up to date. I'll need boosters for all my childhood immunisations. But my 10 year old will need Hep B. Because it's not a national immunisation requirement, most GPs charge you for it. The surgery I work at charges £100 for the full course when it's needed for travel vaccination. However, I've noticed looking at the Kensington price list, they're only charging £35...

My question is, will she need to complete the course in the US in order to satisfy the I-693 requirements before we file our AOS or is it enough if we just get the one for £35 at the medical?

I also don't know about my MMR, since I had measles and rubella as a kid, but never mumps. There isn't a stand alone vaccine for mumps as far as I know, and I reckon I'll have a battle on my hands to get the MMR on the NHS, at the ripe ol' age of 33! lol...

MMR for you..they may still give you the booster. I had had some seperate vaccinations as a child and I still had to have it but because you've actually had the illness already I'm not sure.

The nurse at my GP surgery was a god send. Because my daughter was premature her vaccinations were a nightmare as they were all over the place. But the nurse did all of hers and all of my for free  she even battled with the embassy vaccination list to figure out what we needed. The Hep B is given four weeks apart. I had my appointment with Knightsbridge in between the two. They said so long as I had the first one of everything it was fine but it should be completed before we go (I think it's better that way financially).

Oh and I told her we were immigrating and it was no issue.

The only shot I had to pay for was my daughters influenza as my GP surgery wasn't doing and nowhere else would do under 18's. By the time your have your medical your daughter probably won't have to have it. I think it was due to the time of year.

Thanks! My daughter was prem too, but had all her vaccs on time. She'll definitely have her vaccination record, but I honestly haven't a clue where mine where because I was born in France. Although I think that my 'Carne de Sante' is around somewhere (their equivalent of our Red Book) I'll have to have a good rifle for it!

So in order to AOS we will need to complete my daughter's Hep B, then. I've read that there are clinics that you can use in the US, like public health ones, that offer very lost cost immunisations. I'll have to find out about these because I suspect the Hep B boosters would be cheaper through them. Although that would mean holding back our AOS for 4 weeks, assuming she got jab 2 straight after arriving and jab 3 4 weeks later.

Seems easier to ask my GP's nurse practitioner if she'll do them for us ;) And yeah, we won't need the flu jab, as we're traveling in the summer and hope to AOS before the flu season starts...

Thanks again :)

i was also unsure like you, i went to the medical in london without any medical records because i've never really been to the dr's much in my life and wasn't sure what i've had done? and the dr said not to worry i can get my dr to do the shots, she was right my surgery nurse did my mmr and tetnus it only cost me a tenner. but you can wait until your in the u.s if you like, the only requirement at this stage is for you to pass the hiv test and have an all clear on the chest xray, the rest can wait. i only went to my dr to do it because i was going to get my swine flu jab anyway so i asked nurse to do it....
