Hi All,

Thanks for your support through this process. My fiancee, Elena, had her interview yesterday and was approved. She is planning to arrive in the USA on February in less than 3 weeks. The flight we were looking at has a connection in Amsterdam. Is there any problem with her connecting in a country where she has no visa? I presume it is no problem if she doesn't leave the airport, but I thought I should ask before I strand her there.

She can't leave the airport if there is a problem with her flight, which means that if it's overnight layover they wouldn't be able to put her up in a hotel, for example. However the Amsterdam airport has a hotel inside the airport with rooms you can rent hourly, so it's less of an issue there than at other airports.

No problem as long as she does not leave the secure area. Amsterdam has secure transfer areas she can pass through. One of my favorite airports! If there is an airport with more freindly and helpful people I do not know where it is.

Amsterdam, is seriously, the best airport I have ever been in. Best place to layover. And like others said - no need for visa as long as she doesn't leave the transfer secure area.

Congrats, you're almost there :)

No problems. The sections of the airport she will be allowed/have to go in are international and no visa is required. Alla connected in Stockholm and no issues.

Soory to be (again) the voice of dissent. I went through Amsterdam twice, once with an overnight near the airport. It was a total clusterfuck both times. I think I was there at some sort of peak time, as the crowds were huge - and lots of line cutting and folks that couldn't communicate with airline staff or passport control, etc.
