I'd far rather he stop being lazy and read and understand what his speech-writers are giving him.

This was a schoolboy error (twice) from someone with a good university-level education. But I'll bet his advisers will just tell him "brush it off, it doesn't matter." Thing is, it does matter. As their Commander-in-Chief, the President needs to retain the respect of the people he commands, in this case the USMC. Really basic, dumb mistakes like this do nothing in this regard. You may respect people you are laughing with, but not people you are laughing at.

Obama is not too familiar with military terminology. One of his best moments was honoring the "fallen" soldiers in on Memorial Day.
