Hey everyone,

I had a question regarding question 11 on form I-864A contract between sponsor and household member. The question asks for the total income for last 3 years. My co-sponsor is my father, and his income on his federal income tax return is different than his income on the W2. Which income should he put in?

Thanks!

Dee

Line 22 on the person's 1040 tax return is what is used.

Thank you so much. While we're at this, I'd like to ask a silly question. How many pages is the federal income tax return? I ask this as I've worked only once and have no idea how this whole tax thing works. (And now I don't have my papers with me and don't remember!) I'm also not with my father and cannot see his tax return income forms and wanted to know if they are a specific number of pages or is it different for every person and their tax situation?

Thanks so much for bearing with me!

It will change with each person and their financial circumstances. Maybe they need to file Schedule A for itemizing deductions or maybe they will use the standadr deduction. If they are self-employed they will have a Schedule C. If they traded Stocks, Bonds or Mutual Funds they will probably have a Schedule D. If they had a certain amount of Interest or Dividends earned they will need to Attach a Schedule B. Maybe they are subject to the AMT tax so they attach those calculations.

Maybe they have nothing and can get by with a single page 1040EZ.

I didn't see your reply till now Audy_Rob! Thanks so much for clarifying.

I was just told by the NVC that question 10 on form I-864A is not appropriately answered. The question asks for: current individual annual income. Where do I get this information from and is it the same info put in question 11? Which asks for: My total income (adjusted gross income on IRS Form 1040EZ) as reported on my Federal tax returns for the most recent three years.

Please let me know how to answer questions 10 and 11. This information is for my co-sponsor. This is confusing me so much. Where do I get this information exactly? Where on the W2 or Form 1040? Which lines? I just can't afford to waste any more time! I'm sure many of you feel this way.. I hope everything works out good for you all.

All the best,

DeeZee
