For cultural reasons? Just curious. We just happened too... although I certainly hadn't ruled anyone out on country of origin, but rather on other character/moral issues (which would rule some cultures out for the majority or average, but that's another topic).

I think that is the most common misconception both here and in Eastern Europe. Vika and I met here. Although I traveled to Eastern Europe quite a bit for business and as a tourist, I never picked her from a lineup or catalogue or anything. Gary had the same accidental sort meeting. Slim's first meeting with his missus wasn't accidental exactly, but he wasn't relationship shopping either - nor was he anywhere near the FSU. People meet in a variety of ways (and none of them are necessarily bad), but stereotyping is much easier than asking questions.

I married a Russian woman. What's your accuse?

My excuse? It would be that I like people here... like Mart, Brad, Slim, Mox... and I am old, fat, and bald.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

:) Well none of us are exactly equal opportunists.. in that we all have a type. We didn't meet online which is the typical stereotype for our region.. we met at work :)

Agreed. What blows my mind is that people can't see the type (kind, sweet, family oriented for example) has so little to do with where you live. If you are hung up on race, skin, height, religion, it might. I totally don't get those, or language either.

He sleeps on the couch? Are there no bears there?

Speaking of which...Alla comes home the other evening and says a "deer" was standing in the road when she was driving. "Stupid deer, just stands there and looks at me...big deer, they are really big" Sweetheart, deer are no so big really, maybe 75 kg or so. "No, not this one...BIG, like a horse...BIGGER than a horse, maybe two meters tall" Oh. Um, Alla, that is a MOOSE. "Moose, deer, whatever, I cannot believe we cannot keep these stupid animals off our roads!"

Meaning your wife is different, or ours are not? I am not sure what you mean. Slim, are you serious with this stuff?

Officially, I'm joking. But, for the record, I'm serious. My life, much like my relationship with my wife (and my wife for that matter) is a constant contradiction of terms. She's happy. She's not. She loves me. She doesn't. I'm sleeping in bed tonight. I'm on the couch.

That is serious.

The long term picture is want matters. If you glowing newbie fiancees and husbands are still singing praises 5 years from now, I'll accept you've done well picking a Russian wife. The honeymoon will end. Then let's talk.

Is your forum so boring or empty as to require you to interlope into a basically Christian FSU forum that is very different than your Muslim forum? Are Jordanians friend or foe? Why do we hear from you?

First of all, I'll vouch for julianna. She's good peoples. Second of all, we have several Muslim FSU wives on here so watch your step. Lastly, read up - Jordan isn't just an ally, they're probably our biggest ally over there.

Slim's first meeting with his missus wasn't accidental exactly, but he wasn't relationship shopping either - nor was he anywhere near the FSU.

That's a good way of putting it. Kind of sounded like that when I had to explain to grandma how we first met. "Ah... well, uh, you see, grandma, sometimes young servicemen who're overseas..."

I've shortened it up quite a bit now. "We were both there on business."

... and I am old, fat, and bald.

I've seen pictures!

Wouldn't a Solstice go right under a moose?

quite possibly, unless it was a very short or very fat moose. She seems offended that animals wander into the road and wonders why we can't seem to do anything about it. She will come to a stop, I look around..."What's the problem?" Stupid animal! And there is a squirrel in the road or something.

Her first encounter was wild turkeys. "Who's birds are these and why are they in the road?" LOL

Better a moose than the wild packs of dogs that roam freely in Moscow and elsewhere.

True. Every city in Ukraine is full of them. when I walked at night in Odessa, I feared those damn dogs more than any hoodlums. But she didn't drive there and they don't dent up the car the way a moose does.

Even if it's a tall moose, there might be "underlying" parts you'd hit... make one hell of a hood ornament and an interesting conversation piece.

We keep trying to get the state to allow us to shoot them all here in Ohio.

My uncle had a door knob that was covered by fur. For the longest time nobody could figure out how the fur was shaped just like a little bag......
