Well, we really made a mistake in buying the tickets to travel in early August. Assumed there would be an oath ceremony every month and they don't fill up. Wrong! Wrong!

Went to an infopass (there is a super nice IO in Jax, so despite the drive we don't mind doing the infopass business) and were told that O would have been eligible for the oath ceremony on May 20th, but it's full, so he is in line for the next one. Normally they have one every month, but for some reason they won't in June. So the next one is July 16th! That won't leave enough time to get a U.S. passport and then get a tourist visa for Ghana, let alone dual citizenship.

So, looks like we're going to have to ask for a postponed oath date (for after he is back from Ghana in October) OR pay lots of moolah to change a non-refundable international ticket. This messes everything up, as we were also planning to move to Miami. Well, live and learn.... The only bright spot is that he won't have the stress and expense of getting a Ghana tourist visa. I just hope we don't end up in a USCIS multi-year oath ceremony quest.

@ a&o...Very well! Tell O that Masterpiece says he is just going to have to be patient about this unusual plan of his to slap (using the "Blue" as a handy tool) around a few Ghanaian Immigration officers in Accra. December is also a great time to do so except, as i can safely assume, he has no plans of being in Ghana in December.. Got pricey airfares?

Its all good! He will have the "blue" in hand soon enough.

Not sure when you're traveling, but there are passport agencies that you can go to and get same day passport. We have one in Chicago where they send travelers with expired passports all the time. You just pay the passport fee plus $60 expedite fee and depending on travels it's done within couple of hours up to a max 24 hrs. Also works if the travel is within 14 days.

Thanks for the same day passport info. I am less worried about that than about getting the tourist visa for Ghana. Sending off an application to the Ghana consulate...that is really something that won't happen quickly, I bet.

I hope it's not foolish to postpone the oath...

Hello,

Just would like to share my interview experience.

My original Interview was April 29 but two weeks before my Interview, I received a letter from USCIS stated that they descheduled my Interview. After one week, I received rescheduled letter for May 24.

Today my interview was scheduled at 10:20 and I arrived at 10:17. I checked through security and I dropped my letter in the window and took a seat. Then one officer called my name and he was professional.

I took the oath to tell the truth and then I sat and we went through all the questions on the forms. Then he asked me to read a sentence about Columbus day and asked me 6 questions. I got them right and then he told me congratulations and gave me a form checked congratulations- passed the test and recommended for approval.

Thanks to all visajourney members for your help.

Adding to February applicants who have successfully gone through the interview process and waiting for Oath swearing letter. Thanks to everyone who shared his/her experiences and as a result gave some of us clues to prepare for the interview. Long live VJ!

What a nice day. Passed my interview and test, and now just waiting for the oath letter.

My interview was at the Los Angeles field office. There was a line of people outside the building waiting to get through security. I eventually got to the interview waiting area a few minutes past my appointment time. Waited almost an hour until I was called in by the officer. At first the officer seemed like he would be all business but towards the middle of the interview he was pretty chatty. I was told I should get my oath appointment letter in 1 to 3 months. I guess they are really busy here in LA.
