And you like cottage cheese on your toast. ####### does that have to do with Shelby obstructing an appointee?

Leverage, the opportunity to represent his constituents and the chance to get the USAF something it desperately needs.

But I've said that twice before and you ignored it, because it doesn't fit your partisan opinion of obstructionist Republicans. You'd rather see the issue as black and white, of a Republican blocking the President's appointees purely because he's a Republican. I can't change your mind, as it is as closed as a Pelosi focus session on healthcare. I'm just glad that you're wrong.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

Obstructing appointees as leverage is playing Washington politics, period. No matter how worthy you believe the reason to be. Justifying it in light of all the b!tching you do here about both parties playing politics just makes it even more absurd.

Met that guy on Van Nuys Blvd, when he was a gutter drunk.

Seriously? I got his autograph at an air show back in '79 or '80 (Goodyear, AZ). He and his wife had a very modest looking camper. I have a picture of him somewhere...

It was around '74, or '75, a year or two before they shot the pilot for the Robert Conrad series. He was in sad shape, telling war stories. Nobody knew who he was, or believed him.

Stepping away from the argument...maybe Pooky recognizes this...or maybe not.

Gregory "Pappy" Boyington - probably the most disreputable ace the USMC ever had. Was the card something you had to hand at the time? Because the only thing to make that autograph better would be a picture of an early P40, or an F4U Corsair. Still, nice piece of history you have there.

I think the process IS broken....the situation like Nebraska/Health Care 'Reform' is a perfect example of that. It's pure thuggery at its best, to exert pressure and/or bribes for a vote. How about we start doing that in the Judicial system? ;)

While I don't agree with the games BOTH parties are playing in Congress right now, I kinda do applaud the Senator for taking a stand....withholding your vote for other benefits for the peeps in your state is either allowed or it's not.

:) That was a notepad I had just bought at the air show. There were no Corsairs there, but the famous CAF's 'Sentimental Journey' B-17 was there. I happened to be going through some old papers the other day and just bought a new scanner, so I'd thought I'd share it with you. Although we butt heads on politics, my affection for USAF goes way back to my childhood, when I once wanted to get into the AFA and become a pilot.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

among others. but steven's only outraged when a republican wants his share.

Yeah. The left has their heads too far up Obama's a$$.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt
