I just want to point out that when you use the term "Jap" as you have done its extremely derogatory. I don't think people would appreciate a chinese company being called a "chink" manufacturer.

In that case since my name is Nicholas, should be equally offended if someone calls me Nick. Far worse names for the Japanese, worked with many a WW II vet with the common expression, we didn't win WW II, and they made a very good point. Son works in Japan, have no idea why, but he sure sounds depressed when I call him. Kind of like a Negro living in old Mississippi, except whites in Japan are far fewer. They are a very racist race when it comes to white guys.

Have you ever personally dealt with the Japanese? (is that better), I have, most I met were rather arrogant, but higher executives.

I have and yes, I've met a few who are arrogant. I understand when people of a certain age use the term after all its hard to forget the Bataan Death March etc. However to compare today's Japan with Imperial Japan like comparing black and white.

Yes I agree that to an extent Japan is ethnocentric, but there is no need to be throwing derogatory terms about. It just make you look bad.
