I-864 Poverty Line: just LAST year or last 3 years?

I have a question about the 125% Poverty Line on the I-864. My situation is as follows: I am the primary sponsor and, for the last three years, I have been making next to nothing overseas. Last year I started working in the States and almost made the Poverty Line. My assets (savings) can help me get to the poverty line for last year, but not for the two prior years. My question is this: Do I need to be above 125% of the Poverty Line for the last three years or just for the last year?

Thank you!

You only need the most recent year. If you are pushing it close it's better to get a co sponsor. Some COs don't like people using assets.

!! ALL PAU!

It's a JOINT sponsor in terms of the I-184, co-sponsor is the I-134

The terms are often used interchangeably here on VJ.

Just last year but if last year you barely made it, then the previous two years will help show that it was a temporary thing. letters from your current employer stating your job stability will help moving forward. Make sense?

What is your current income level? Is it 125% of the poverty level?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Thanks for your posts. My salary is way above the 125% line (by about $16,000), but I've only been working with that salary for the last 4 months, so it doesn't reflect in my taxes. Is there somewhere that says in the instructions that the 125% poverty line requirement is only for the last year? I'm nervous!
