Hi everyone!

We are the happiest couple in the world! After 3 long years of suffering we finally made it! My husband got his visa today! He had gotten denied on the fiance visa in 2007.I cant belieave it! We suffered so much!

I have a question.I have to get my husband his adjustment of status and read that I must do it right away when he gets here.Dont I have 2 years? I cant afford the fee to do this yet. If I dont use a laywer how much will it be to do the adjustment and can I wait a year at least to save for this? I read that if I dont do it right away it will look like he doesnt want to be with me here.

Also he still in his country.Does he have a certain time to come to the america? I have my house rented till June. How many months do they give you to get here on k3 visa?

Thankyou for all your answers!!

You don't need a lawyer. Just download the form (I-485) and read the instructions carefully, plus look for help on this site. The AOS fee is $1010. That includes the $80 for biometrics.

You need to do it as soon as you can. For K-1 visa beneficiaries, your EAD (Employment Authorization Document) is based on your pending AOS, so if he is going to work you will need to get the AOS filed. If you request the EAD with the AOS, you don't need to pay the usual $340 fee for the EAD.

Without his greencard, he will be in a limbo status, having entered legally but not having permanent residence status.

I don't know why my first message posted twice but...

I missed the second part of your message. If he is K3, you do have two years to do the AOS. He will still need to do the I-765 for work authorization until you adjust his status and he has his greencard.

You don't HAVE to AOS right away but since you've had three years to save for it, why haven't you done that and why haven't you educated yourself by now on what is required? Getting them here is not the end of the process but just the beginning. There will be more documents and cost beyond this AOS.

Anyway congrats on the approval and no you don't have to do it right away. Just have a happy marriage and generate evidence to that effect for the AOS interview.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

The reason I havent saved for it is because we have spent over 30000 since 2007 on phone calls and 3 lawyers also buying a house which I have no mortgage on and taking trips back and forth to his country 5 times and all in between.Thats why.How much money would you have left if you did all this?I have other things to do still so we are saving up again. It wasnt easy to sponsor my husband especially when he got denied the first time and we spent alot on my last lawyer for nothing because he never got a visa.Plus I had also talked to 3 other lawyers telling me he could never come here which was a lie!I spent alot on lawyers and it wasnt free consultations.Theres alot of lawyers that dont know what they are talking about.

On educating myself well I decided not to use a lawyer this time and do it myself.Im reading and learning but I want to make sure that I will do it right. Our case was very difficult and without Grant Kaplin in Boca he would have never gotten his visa.Im here to try to do things without spending more money because its a lot easier once he gets here I can do it myself.Thats why im here.To LEARN like everyone else here.I bet you educated your self here right?Your here for a reason and so am I.

I know the whole process and its not as much as you say once he gets here sir.My sister went thru it 2 times she married a german man.So I know what happens when he comes its no where as hard as what ive been thru trying to get my husband here.We went thru so much and thank God its over.Im here to make sure cause I have been told wrong information by others.

I was just about to give up and just move to his country. We were told lies and Kaplin was the only one that helped us.

Getting him here is the easy part now thats hes got hs visa.I cant understand why you are sayng its just the beggining cause to us its the end we are finally going to be together sir the hard part is over!!.....
