HI,

I am US citizen and I sent I-130 for my wife on february 14 2010. when i login to USCIS case status with my case #

it says:

Initial Review

On February 22, 2010, we received this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

I am getting a bit worried since 5 months has passed by and there was no change made to my status nor was any other requests made or mailed to me.

I recently made a address change and it was changed promptly. I called them but told to wait.

Should I be worried? I checked the status of similar date filers and all of them seem to be approved at this time. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You, Damian

i think things are going a bit slow these days. if other people haven't been getting their NOA2 yet, i would not worry too much. wait a bit more before you panic!

Hi Damian,

Oh I feel so sorry for you- it does seem like your application is taking even longer than normal for some reason. The average processing time for the I-130 is around 5 months, mine only took around 2 months though (it is just the rest of the process that is taking longer for me!). I would think that the only thing you can now do is keep on at the customer services department, make sure they have the correct address and give them email addresses. You could also consider asking your local senator for some support as they might be able to help speed things up as you are now over the average processing time for the I-130? Also if you haven't done so already I would get the rest of the stuff you will need for the next stages ready now to eliminate further delays. Good luck and I hope you hear something soon!

Thank you all for your replies. I called today I and I spoke to the customer service . I was told the case is within the processing time and if I do not receive any decision on the case by the end of the month I should call back.

Hi everyone,

Its nice to know that we arent the only ones in limbo or on forever waiting mode. Its been to long for us since we have gonne an update. Both of our applications have gone past the 5 months processing time and still no approvals for either. What most worries me is that the I-130 was transfered to a local office (Oakland Park, FL)when most cases get approved at the California Service Center. Anyone has heard of this or in the safe situation as us? All replies are greatly appreciated.

Noo we havent received our I-130 approval. Case was transfered to the Local Field Office on June 17, 2010. Already contacted them a few time. I even requested an infopass appointment on August 23, 2010. I didnt get anywhere with it, i was just told to wait for an interview date. I have heard from others that being that my husband is from Egypt, that it could take a longer process than usual.

I sure did. They basically said that I cant go by the USCIS time frame, that it is only an estimate. That they will schedule me an appointment and to be patient. Anyways, I read some helpful tips from DARNELL here, posted as 'being proactive'. I am goign to give it a try when I go this Friday for the Infopass I requested. Pray for me.
