"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

The principal way overreacted to this. However, why not let the usual disciplinary action take its course? Why is one of the first responses always to threaten a lawsuit?

Regardless of the size, zero tolerance policy must be enforced on kids on the issues of guns. So many kids irresponsibly would think a gun is a toy. There's a time and place for it.

So you think they shouldn't make toy guns for kids to play with? How about G.I Joe & other "boy" toys?

School is about teaching kids responsibility.

Kids who bring toys to school gets them confiscated anyways. Who'd bring toys to school? Seriousness of subject matters depends on circumstances.

Zero tolerance policies applied towards a few things. Zero tolerance always should never be lenient as to teach responsibility to the kids.

Why can't we let kids be kids?

Think back when you were a kid. From what I can remember, my brother, male cousins & male friends didn't play with barbies.

I can see if it was a replica, something that couldn't be distinguished from a real or fake gun, ok.

But a gun small enough to fit in a toy policeman's hand?

I just think it's a bit harsh.

Times change, ah ?

The family dynamic has changed, also.

Availability of guns has changed, also.

Concept of 'Responsible Parents' has changed, also.

where does it all stop?

well, it stops at the school, ya? No Guns At School. Period.

hey hey, here is the story I was talking about earlier. Apparently this incident now warrants the parent suing the school district.

Anyways, something does not add up to this story. As per usual, my child is the innocent one. Gezz we have not heard that one before. I've seen parents on the news claim that their teenager who is charged with murder to be "just the greatest kid". Um he shot someone to death you stupid ######..

Moronic parent's response: ""The school should be embarrassed. This is a common-sense issue." What the heck does that even mean?

The mother does seem to be a bit of a jerk involving her kid in this media circus over such a matter and calling the principal a bully. #######? The school can do whatever it likes in terms of allowing toys on their premises. If the principal doesn't want toy guns at her school, she doesn't want them at her school. I very much doubt there was really any talk of suspension over this incident. The principal may have suggested that continuing to bring toys she didn't approve of would lead to that but this is going to teach the boy not to respect authority which doesn't seem very sensible to me.

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Patrick Timoney, 9, was terrified when he was yanked into the principal's office to discuss the teeny-weeny plastic "weapon."

Are these guys for real? Timothy was terrified.. Give me a break..

I regularly hear from the teachers I know that parents now seem to assume they run the school. Therefore, if a parent deems something to be wrong, they take in on themselves to decide whether the rules apply to their child. While this is apparently not the case with all parents, there is a growing issue.

Morons who breed need to wake up and realize when you are in a government funded school, you have no say. I pay my taxes too, which means I should also get a say in the education I fund. Certain American parents are tying a schools time with BS and driving the education system into the ground. They are burning out good teachers, just so they can get a say for the five years their moronic child is in a school.

Edit: An Australian school principle would have laughed in this parent's face and had her escorted by police off the ground. Hence, why they are ranked #1 in the world regarding education index.

Because dueling has been outlawed.

Reinstate it, I say.
