Random K3 Approvals

Is it just me, or is there no rhyme or reason to the order in which USCIS is approving K3s??

I have seen so many people posting approvals on this site who filed a lot more recently than some of us. For example, my husband & I filed in early March, and yet USCIS is approving people who filed in April and May. Aren't they supposed to go in order of receipt notice date?? I know we aren't the only ones this is happening to...many of you out there are in our same situation.

Don't get me wrong...I am truly thrilled for everyone here who has K3 approved already...it gives us all hope! I'm just really confused why the approvals are all over the map.

Anyone have any insights? (BESIDES the fact that some applications are subject to additional background checks?)

Waiting patiently,

(oh, who am I kidding...Waiting IMPATIENTLY!!)

It would be nice if we had some kind of feed back from USCIS.

I wonder too why some are faster than others even tho they are out of order.

Aussiewench posted a link to a topic that discussed the writer's impression of the procedure that takes place in the service centers. It was quite well written as far as clarity and gave a rational explanation for the differences in dates and approvals.

So , Aussie , if you recall the link(Meauxna maybe?) and could repost it, I think it would bring some clarity to some of this. You are one of the few I look to for clear and concise info and direction and I appreciate you.

metinspain,

Petitions begin processing based on Receipt Date. They do not, and never have, completed processing based on Receipt Date. They complete when they complete, depending on the individual facts and circumstances affecting each case.

There have always been petitions with later Receipt Dates approved ahead of petitions with earlier Receipt Dates. This fact of life is exagerated, grossly exagerated, at present due to the large backlog of cases accumulated over several months time when processing had to be stopped for a while and then RFEs issued for every case before processing that case could resume, but the disparity in completion dates is nothing new.

I concur with Yodrak, this is not something new but is being exasperated by the backlog and RFE's due to IMBRA. Here is the thread CutienPurg is referring to which may give some understanding of what happens at service centers including the NBC. In particular look at the posts by meauxna.

I'm curious why you want to cancel your K-3. I don't think it interferes with your CR-1 in any way? (Or is it more a matter of not wanting to assemble the supporting documentation?)

mrswhizz, at this point you dont have to cancel the k3, it will cancel once your cr1 reaches embassy.

as explained before there is no single file line you get into to have your petitions approved. cases are dealt by many individuals, thus each case will proceed at a different pace based on various factors

i got my cr1 approved when the processing dates were dec for california servcie center. and my receipt was for feb. . So once again there is no single file line.

It's not because of laziness (even though I am guilty) I would do anything to have him here. It's just because with everything already processing at NVC then being forwarded to London, I doubt the K3 will be of any real consequence to us. Maybe if I cancel mine, they will process someone elses faster! I know he could get K3 then fly back for CR1 but.......if the interview dates run closely together, why waste the money on a flight when he could come in with the benefits of CR1? Of course, if I've screwed something up with the CR1 documentation, K3 could have benefits. Do you think I should wait a bit longer girl37?

Thanks hafiz! After the past few months and all of the confusion, I didn't know if having two going when one is so close would make matters worse.....

Thanks for posting the thread, aussiewench. Very helpful reading.

However...I can't decide if now I feel better or more depressed?!?!

I guess the answer is: there really is no rhyme or reason because the USCIS "system" isn't chronological, and we just have to deal with it! (which SUCKS, but such is the process.)

Oh, how I miss my husband............. at least I know I'm not alone!

That's very thoughtful of you to think about other people's progress through the system. :)

I wouldn't waste $$ on a trans-Atlantic flight if both petitions got to the Embassy at a similar time either. I just wouldn't cancel anything. I'd wait to see what happened with each of them, right up until the bitter end, since we've already invested in both.
