Hyphenated names

Hi everyone,

I have two hyphens in my name, one for the first name and the other on my last name (since I decided to take my maiden name hyphenated with hubby's name). When I applied for the AOS, I put on all the apps my married name with the hyphens. However, the NOA's all came out without hyphens. Has anyone had similar issues and come out ok? Just wondering if they usually print their forms off without hyphens.

Also, I should probably note that my K1 visa shows my first name without the hyphen, and my I-94 did not have the hyphen, either. So perhaps it's a non-issue?

Thanks!

My first name is hyphenated too.

I have no advice, I just wanted to say that.

Oh and I don't remember it being much of an issue.

Hyphenated names ensure that your offspring have zero chance at ever playing professional sports.

Oh, and they will be the cause of the destruction of the rainforests. What will happen when people with hyphenated names start marrying other people with hyphenated names. Soon people will have paragraphs for last names and wedding announcements and obituaries will take full pages. Think of the trees.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

I just got my biometric notice and my name's still not hyphenated. It's driving me crazy about whether there will be a problem for AOS. Tried to call NCSC but nobody's answering....

My cousin married a guy with a hypenated name so she couldn't hyphen it again. The funny part is that his Dad passed down the hypehnated name. The family name has been hypenated for like 4 generations already or something!

Actually, we've decided that the kids will take my husband's last name. I just decided to keep my last name in honor of my family.

So as an update, I did end up getting through to USCIS, and they put a typo request...so I will get a notice from them within 45 days about the change

Thats good that you got that sorted. Did you ask them if this would have caused a problem for you had you not corrected it?

Well, the lady I spoke to made is sound like it was a good thing that I called to fix the hyphens. It's always good to have your name matching on all documents.

In my first marriage I had both my maiden and married name. At first I hyphenated it, then I was too lazy. Really...does it need to be hyphenated? I had some ID where it was hyphenated, some not. I don' t know that it matters if it's hyphenated or not. Maybe things are different now. I had two last names, my kids had their Dad's name. I ended up dropping all but my maiden name. Didn't matter whether it was hyphenated, non-hyphenated, or just my maiden name, I had nothing but hassles as it wasn't the same last name as the kids.
