SUggest your husband 'fix it' in the DS-230 that he has to file, for later.

ALSO include a seperate letter with the DS-230 explaining the name problem.

If it's not fixed at NVC (you won't know until it's left, by calling DOS, after it's left NVC )

then the Embassy/Consulate can fix it - via YOU or your HUSBAND sending in a letter/fax with the 'proper name'.

Good Luck !

'Getting the Name Right' is a PITA, I think so !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

don't be depressed.

nothing wrong in what you did actually. you just did what we filipinos normally practice.

unfortunately here in the states they do it completely different.

here, most people have second names (in the philippines it's optional) and that second name is what they call middle name,

whereas in the phils our middle name is our mother's maiden name.

so, if you don't have a second name (just Mea) and you get married, your new name becomes just Mea Pedro (because they do not normally retain your maiden name (your father's last name) .

since you put your mother's maiden name as your middle name, they assumed that it's your second name that's why they retained it and then added your husband;s last name,

don't worry, you have two options.

1. call NVC and tell them the way you want your name to appear is Mae Lising Pedro (not sure if they will allow it though)

explain that you want to use your maiden name as your middle name

2. accept the fact that your new name has your mother's maiden name as your middle name and your father's last name is forever gone (only in short forms anyway) but replaced by your loving husband's nice last name

good luck and god bless! :)
