Hi guys

My hubby has the I-130 interview for me at the Sydney Embassy next week and then an hour later, has the CRBA interview with me for our 5 month old daughter. Does anyone know what the wait time is with a CRBA? I am quite worried that my visa will come through before my baby gets her citizenship paperwork. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's probably a bit different in every country; in Ireland, we could have had their passports and CRBA birth certs the same day if we had elected to wait 3-4 hours at the embassy, but we didn't want to do that with4 months old twins, so they sent it to us about a week later. The SSN took longer, as it is sent directly from the USA- took 5 weeks or so.

Thanks so much. Do you recommend having the SSN sent to our US home or have it sent to Oz? I don't want to be hanging around in 5 weeks (or more) waiting for a SSN when it could be in the US. Just not sure whether that's permitted.

I don't know.... if it is possible, I'd send it to the USA (you can always use a family member's address to be safe)- not as if you'll need it in Australia.

We got our sons CRBA approved in the embassy pending further evidence that Matthew my husband was living in the US for more than 5 years.

We hadnt given that part of it much thought because Matt still has a strong american accent and we assumed that that was enough proof but not for Dublin.

We applied for our sons passport at the same time and I received it today, along with a certificate of citizenship for him. Not sure about the SSN though. Must ring the embassy and see if they have our new US address to send it to.

Just for those wondering about receiving a SSN after the CRBA in Dublin, I received my sons SSN last week to my irish home address.
