A very cheery chap just confirmed that NVC have received our petition, gave me our LND file number and said to give it a week to confirm that it's gone onto London.

I really need to get police certificate requests for UK and Germany mailed tomorrow, and nag the fella to get his I-134 stuff in the mail to me.

Oh, and find my passport, which seems to have gone awol :o

@ Wishing, I really think you need to check the web site for either Montreal or Vancouver because I believe it is very different for each Consulate. I know London you do not have to mail in anything but the checklist and I think one other form. But for Bangkok I have to mail in everything (forms and all documents) except for the medical results. It really seems to vary with the Consulate.

@SunDrop - Congratulations

LOL dunno... I realised they had our petition when he asked for Ry's name and the cheery chap actually laughed when I said, "OMG! You've GOT IT!" Was having Bainbridge nightmares...

I've actually started really sorting out stuff for packing now. The past few months have flown by and it's only going to speed up. Bought an external hard drive and transferred all my photos and music off the desktop computer, since I'm not taking that.

It's daft, but the thing I'm looking forward to the most is canceling all my bills! lol.. I know they'll just get replaced with new ones in the States, but that's just exciting! I can't wait to see mail show up for us both, in my married name.

The weather is warming up here in London, I'd usually start planting up my hanging and window baskets. Instead I'm planning on getting a skip for all the bits and pieces that will need to be thrown out and looking to see what sort of price 30" fish tanks and old computers sell for in the local paper.

Surreal...

Today is the first working day in Thailand (yes, it is Monday there) since the believed arrival of our packet on Friday. But then the remaining four days are a holiday for the US Embassy. It is Buddhist New Year over there. Why is the US Embassy closed four days for the Buddhist New Year.

No offense to any Buddhists in our lovely forum.

Using the scientific method Wishing found in the NVC forum to search DHL, I see a package shipped on April 5 from Portsmouth N.H. was signed for at the Bangkok Embassy Friday morning at 09:54.

If Audy does not receive Packet 3 email or phone call today, then forget the next 6 days until next Monday.

Separate note, I sense that approvals slowed down last week. I hope they pick-up this week. I hope this H-1B visa scare does not really happen.

Hi Wishing. Does Montreal normally contact you after they receive your (your fiance's) Petition from NVC? Do they mail out or email out Packet 3?

Someone in the Thailand specific thread said the Bangkok Embassy never contacted his fiancee. She needed to call. I am wondering if this is normal for Consulates?

OK, this is starting to get really frustrating...

Our NOA2 date was March 31st, Shawn received the NOA2 hardcopy on April 5th and we've been calling the NVC since the middle of last week and so far they haven't received our package. I know other people here who got approved at the same time or even after us have already had their stuff received by the NVC and have got their new case numbers, but ours seems to have been lost somewhere or just forgotten about. I spoke to someone at the NVC today who said it wasn't there, and when I said surely they should have received it by now he said it can take 90 days after approval for them to receive the package. What the hell?! Surely that can't be the case... I asked him for the number for the CSC and called them, Shawn ended up having to call because it wouldn't accept our receipt number when it asked for it (it said it's a 10 digit number, which it is, and when we put it in it says the number is too short - hmm, we tried multiple times and definitely put the correct number in!). It didn't work for him either! In the end he had to select the option for "I've lost my receipt number" which of course we haven't but the system was being silly. He spoke to someone who said they don't know if it's been sent or not, and that he shouldn't be calling until 30 days have passed from the NOA2 date.

So we're not exactly getting very far...

I would've thought that the petitions that were approved within a day or 2 of each other (for example Sundrop's and ours) should have arrived at similar times. As it happens, we were approved the day before and as yet the NVC have nothing, whereas Sundrop's was received by them last Friday and we were approved a day earlier. (sorry to use you as an example, Sundrop!)

*SIGH*

I know it probably sounds silly moaning about it but we really don't wanna end up in the same situation as Bainbridge (I think it was - sorry if I'm mistaken!) who ended up having to chase it repeatedly while CSC kept hold of the approved petition for over a month...

Is anyone else who was approved at the end of March still waiting for the NVC to receive their package? I'm starting to think they've misplaced ours!
