Got a videocam? set it up at night so they cant see it but it can see your front yard..and keep a diary of any events

I would call the police if this happens again. You can have them come to the residence and investigate whom is outdoors. Take precautions and stay safe.

I'm sorry that such jerks have you so terrified to leave your own house to even check the mail. Everyone here has really offered you some great advice... so I would take heed and take precautions. I would call the police and give them a description of the cars, tag #'s if available and the description of the people that hang out at the house across from yours. I would also keep a journal of any peculiar activity / event that happens pertaining to your home and personal property. I would also look up the local police department's phone number and put them on speed dial.

I'm a little surprised that your husband did not at least get up to kind of peek through the window to see who it could have been. Did you call your friends & family to inquire as to if they had come to your house during the middle of the night? What about your other neighbors? Did they see or hear anything?

My sister was going through a divorce about 15 years ago, and her ex was harassing her on the phone and out in the community... running her off of the road, etc. The policeman that she spoke with told her to go to the local Radio Shack and to get a tape recorder that she could install on her phone so that she could tape the harassing phone calls... that is an idea if whomever starts to call your home. I really liked the idea about the video that someone posted. Do you have a digital camera? That could be quite handy also. And for goodness sakes, don't go out by yourself... stay safe!

Well, we've informed the police in the past about what the people across the street have been doing, and really they dont seem the slightest bit interested. It all started in December when my hubby yelled at them to turn the music down at around 2am. Since then they've been making life a misery for us. Called the police when they broke into our garage, called them when they stole the vegetables from our garden, when they threw the eggs on our car etc. The police said "Well you cant actually prove it was them, since you dont have independant witnesses!!" Didnt want to investigate or anything. Almost accusing us of stealing our own vegetables, breaking into our own garage etc!!!!

These officers are the same dumb fcuks who last month attended the scene of a car jacking and shot the VICTIM 19 times through the car window instead of the criminal. Idiots!! I really have NO faith whatsoever in the police around here.

We will be getting a camcorder.

PS// The other thing that really grates us is that they're ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS across the street. One of them is legal perhaps, but the others certainly aren't. It's like a holding house or something, different people moving through every couple of weeks, cars coming and going at all hours of the night. It just makes me furious that the authorities dont want to do anything about it.

PPS// The rest of the neighbours and the area are great, have no problems with them at all, so it's not like we live in a terrible place or anything like that.

Have you had discussions about these ppl and their activities with your other neighbours? maybe it would be useful to go have a chat with the neighbourhood and see how everyone else feels about what is going on around them.... a collective complaint is are far more powerful in my view......

We have had some break ins where they knock first and if you answer they invade and if not I assume they come on in. I would call 911 for sure if it happens again.
