It really depends on the tips - if hard tips, then you might have some problems.

if soft tips, then is useful for gum stimulation, which can help to prevent gingivitis.

but hey - get a dentists' opinion, ya? we're all just laymen here, bound to give you some bad advice about when to change batteries and making sure it's water proof.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Now that all the juvenile comments are over, I'll answer your questions. There is nothing wrong with a vibrating toothbrush. Your delicate teeth, if they are split require an amalgam filling and possible pin insertion by your dentist. If they are not split, then it won't be any better or worse than a regular toothbrush. I have used one, mine was round like the trophy cup that a dental hygienist or dentist uses to clean your teeth and it did a better job of cleaning my teeth compared to using a regular toothbrush. One advantage is that with a manual brush you tend to put more pressure on the surface of the tooth compared to the vibrating toothbrush, most vibrating toothbrushes have a sensor that tells you when you are putting too much pressure on the surface. I hope this answers your questions.

Your answer does make sense. Thank you. Professional oral/dental care is really expensive everywhere. Anyway, my husband and I will surely visit the dentist soon to make use of our cards.

Huh? Does the phrase 'double entendre' mean anything to you?

You are going to be my next favorite member.

Sounds good.

I heard the Oral b's are good too. I just happened to buy a Sonicare.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

You are very diplomatic today. ^_^

My husband has lots of Sonicare replacements because he keeps forgetting where he placed the last pair that he has bought. Now that he finds them all, it looks like those are his favorite collections.

In response to the OP, I only know that my mother's dentist recently prescribed a vibrating toothbrush, but one with a two minute timer.

Most of the Oral-B models have this feature to prevent damaging the enamel by over brushing (bruxism).

Thanks. You seem very nice too. Stick around here on OT -- it'll cure your niceness in a hurry!

j/k.

You've been promsing me that since day one, thus far I haven't changed a bit. :P

I use the $1.99 "firm" brushes from walmart. 2 steps below a wire brush. I rinse and gargle with hydrogen peroxide. I have the freshest mouth in town. The peroxide does wonders killing germs...ect. No chit. Its also good for keeping the yellow off your teeth. The HP is a whitner also.

A mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide is suppose to be really good for deep cleaning...especially if you have pockets where food tends to collect.

You shouldn't use the firm brushes...they can damage your tooth enamel.

Always use a soft brush, always. The firm or medium brushes are for artificial teeth. The enamel is the least of your problems, the firm brushes irritate the gums and cause recession. The blood supply to the gums is affected and this scarring of the tiny blood vessels of the gums causes the tissues to die and recede. This will allow periodontal pocket depth to increase, loosen your teeth and cause them to fall out because of a loss of gums.
