Does a Vibrator Help or Harm?

My husband bought me an Oral-B Pulsar last week. I change toothbrush every 3 months. It's the first time that I am using a sort of vibrating toothbrush and it makes me wonder: Is this really good for my teeth? What's going to happen to a few of my delicate teeth (the not so strong ones)? Won't they split?

Do you use any vibrating toothbrush? Is it really healthy?

We have Philips Sonic Care toothbrush and it is recommended to us by our dental hygienist.

According to the dental hygienist, you can angle the bristles right at the gum line an it will not harm your gums or enamel.

That's what my husband uses.

I guess it's better to go to the dentist one of these days.

I use a sonic care and have had noticable results at the dentist (and cleaner feeling teeth). I've used it for 2+ years and my teeth haven't cracked.

ROFLMAO... this thread had so much potential, and then I read the text. That title is a little misleading there ;)

Definitely use the vibrator. Use it often, preferably daily. Insert deeply, and stimulate all tissues thoroughly. Rinse well afterwards, and pat dry.

Scandal, do you enjoy closed threads?

Now that all the juvenile comments are over, I'll answer your questions. There is nothing wrong with a vibrating toothbrush. Your delicate teeth, if they are split require an amalgam filling and possible pin insertion by your dentist. If they are not split, then it won't be any better or worse than a regular toothbrush. I have used one, mine was round like the trophy cup that a dental hygienist or dentist uses to clean your teeth and it did a better job of cleaning my teeth compared to using a regular toothbrush. One advantage is that with a manual brush you tend to put more pressure on the surface of the tooth compared to the vibrating toothbrush, most vibrating toothbrushes have a sensor that tells you when you are putting too much pressure on the surface. I hope this answers your questions.

I've had damage to my teeth from what the dentist calls overbrushing. Before then, I never had one single cavity, even as a child. The toothbrushes of today are way too harsh on your tooth enamel and your gums....especially those fancy Oral B toothbrushes....they're #######.

The best ones are the soft compact ones. There's a toothbrush made from recycled plastic that I've seen sold in Trader Joe's and at Target, made the old school way...nice and soft. You don't need a steel brush to clean off the plaque. Once the plaque builds up, that the time to visit the dentist.
