The theory about Jacob being in Said has an other part I think. The temple people did make a note that the water was not clear (like it's normally supposed to do). In the last frames before Said wakes up, the water is clear again....

I thought that the episode was confusing too. It brings a lot of new questions and I'm getting to the point where I just want answers.

Are they living two lives now?

Is their new life and old life connected?

Why is the island under the sea and yet not (again is there 2 realities now?)

Who are the temple people why were they not involved before and why is the flight attendent with them?

Agreed for lock it's time to burry him and make the corpse look dead too!

The fella pointed out, that unless they sacked their continuity editors due to the recession, Jack's hair is a lot longer on "the flight that was meant to be", than it was when they crashed in season 1.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this season will end with everyone going, 'hey, but what about.... and they forgot.....'

Yeah, that seems pretty clear to me too.

Interesting that Desmond was on the plane in the presumably post-bomb reality...and that Shannon wasn't, while Boone was. Hmm.

I was actually a little disappointed that the Esau theory that people have been bandying about since the end of last season turned out to be pretty much spot-on. The thing that bothers me about it is that when you watch Season 5, it's really only the last episode where you can believe Locke is anyone other than Locke. He seemed changed, sure, but still had a very human Locke-ness to him. For example, he was very open in talking about how he wasn't sure what happened...that his last memory was of dying etc.

One thing I really hope they'll explain this season is the significance of all the Egyptian symbolism. It's quite clear that there is a lot of Christian symbolism at play, but there is an equal amount of Egyptian subtext. Oddly enough, that's not delved into nearly as much by Lost fans.

Well, I'm certainly looking forward to the next episode. The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that Sayid is now inhabited by Jacob. Remember the note given to the temple people after all...

Unfortunately, they can (barely) get off on a technicality there by saying, "Hey, it IS an alternate reality...Jack's hair just happens to be longer in this alternate reality!" Also, I'm not convinced that this reality is supposed to be 2004. It could justifiably be 2007...

the new reality is not a carbon copy of the old one.. in the new one the island is sunk so it doesn't have as much pull if any on their life's so things happen differently... there were all sorts of things that were different.. like how Hurley now considers himself lucky when before he considered himself cursed...

Yeah, I found that really interesting about Hurley too. I think he was also on the opposite side of the plane from when he was on the original Flight 815. Likewise with Charlie -- he was in the FRONT bathroom, messing with the dimebag when the original Flight 815 went down. So it's definitely NOT a carbon copy, like Marilyn says.

The time line with them all on the plane is the reset timeline. The bomb worked. However, it only worked for the characters in the next time loop. That's why the island is under water - it got sunk by the bomb. This is also why Desmond was on the plane. The island was sunk in 1976 (or whatever year it was), so he never made it to the island, never got trapped on there when he went sailing and so on.

However, it didn't reset the timeline for the characters with the bomb. They have to finish out their own ones. They don't get to start anew. Don't ask me why! lol

Funny you should say that. I keep thinking it is gonna wind up being Jack waking from a nihtmare on the plane. I would not be happy. I am addicted to the show but my idea of what it all means has shifted a bit. The first couple seasons I thought hey were in purgatory. There are anumber of religious overtones but now it's all wierdly sci fi again. Parallell universe, wormhole hoopla. Guess we have to just see how it goes!

I wasn't impressed with last night's episode. Obviously I'll stick with it, since I've seen every episode of the series, but last night was just too disjointed for my liking. Hopefully the season gets better!

Yeah and Locke is inhabited by his nemesis. It's like the Stand. Black hat vs White Hat, good and eveil, heaven and hell and all that which brings me back to my original purgatory theory where these are souls caught between worlds. I hope they conclude the series in a way that makes sense!

Nope, because they're still in different time periods. The reset bunch are back in 2006, at the time when the plane originally should have crashed. The "un-reset" bunch are now three years ahead with Sun, Lapidis, Richard and Fake Locke.

I don't want LOST to end!!! But I do want to know the ending.

I liked the episode. It wasn't the best I've seen of LOST but it cleared some things and got more mysteries going. The confirmation that Locke is the Man in Black (MIB) from the beggining of The Incident and that he's also the smoke monster was cool.

I like the alternative timeline or flash sideways and Dalrton is calling, can't wait to see more of that.

And to me, Sayid is now Jacob.
