Thank you everyone! What a wonderful feeling after so many months of crying and pain and feeling like I was going crazy...

We have a friend who is a lawyer in Damascus and she is taking care of the residency thing- we hope to have something in after the weekend insha'Allah! I will keep you posted.

..when does it REALLY hit you? I am still in shock.

Update- The residency thing went through- after paying out a lot of blackmail cash and then he had to be interrogated by Syrian authorities about why his residency lapsed (he tried to not let it happen but couldn't get someone to get it done for him)... he saw horrible things- people being taken away by the police to the border being kicked out of the country. Being treated like common criminals. So sad. Luckily for us, our lawyer friend was able to intervene and we got a week residency stamped in the passport. Alhamdullilah. He is going to tell me the FULL story when he gets here. Can't talk a lot now.

Now to try to get a flight. I never thought of it- I can't purchase a ticket online for him! Ah! Travel agencies all closed here on Sunday. I ended up sending him cash via WU for him to get a ticket there. Insha'Allah it will all work out tomorrow and we will have a ticket in hand for Wednesday!

Hurray! :D

Congrats Nancy! Yes, it is VERY exciting.

He has the ticket! Leaving Damascus 1:15am Wednesday my time. (EST) Flying into Chicago Wednesday evening...of course, there is a snowstorm warning from now until noon on Wednesday. :o Darn! Why NOW?? I am in Detroit and am PRAYING that this storm isn't as bad as they are making it to be. (I usually am praying for the opposite to get out of work! ha ha) Will make the treck to Chicago Wednesday afternoon. I am SO excited but nervous about this whole thing. ..and of course, I have my 1st cold of the season...drippy nose and sneezing. Just wonderful.

Well, this is reality I guess! ha ha. Love me and my drips! Welcome to the USA! :P

There IS light at the end of the tunnel...inching ever so close...

Thanks for all the well-wishes.
