and some of you call yourselves grown ups? bf activist said one...another had a blinkie that said 'pull up your big girl panties' well, pull em up n grow up. it only takes one ignorant person to start a mud slide of ignorance. bf is the healthies, most natural thing a woman can do for her baby.

you can tell that you don't have kids...b/c having kids makes you more aware of what kids need. that woman was exercising her child's natural born RIGHT to breastfeed. just b/c you (those who are against or said things like 'gross) are too immature and selfish to realize it, don't go laying your negativity off on others.

HOW CHILDISH CAN YOU BE...

GET OVER YOURSELF AND LET NATURE BE.

besides, it's not about YOUR comfort, it's about comforting/feeding a CHILD!

i just want to tell you all are the most ignorant people i've ever seen! the breast is made for nourishing your child. it's not for sexual purposes. they were made to feed children. if it makes you uncomfortable don't look. get over it! you can tell that none of you have had the joy of knowing that your child needs you for nourishment. it's a satisfying feeling. it's a beautiful natural thing. and it's to every woman's discretion how long to breastfeed her child. who are any of you to judge? if they're not ashamed of how they feed their child why should you be?

actually someone posted a link in a forum i go to. and like i said earlier. this is my main login id. and it's not a personal attack. it goes for every person who made the moronic remarks about breastfeeding!

You have your personal belief and opinion on breastfeeding and others have theirs. I'm sure you're used to that by now, since I assume you belong to a pro-breastfeeding forum. If we all agreed on this subject, there wouldn't be need for such specific forums, would there?

It's one thing to express your personal opinion on what you think is right and wrong when it comes to breastfeeding but it's a whole other thing to start calling people names because they don't agree with you.

All the OP was commenting on was that she thought it was a bit odd for a lady to do that and she was honestly wondering about whether it's normal to be breastfeeding a child at that age.

And yes, some people agreed with her and some disagreed, like you do, obviously. But can't you keep it civil?

I don't think it's about being "ashamed". I think it's the simple fact that I don't want to be forced to look at someone dragging out a ####### to have a baby suck on it, right in front of me. Sorry. I know it's your body and all and it's all natural and blahblahblah. But guess what, we are born NAKED. Does that give me the right to strut around without any clothes on, forcing everyone to look at me?

It's also natural for human beings to pee and poop but do you see any (sane people who don't want to get arrested) doing that in public? Now I know, I know. Breasts are beautiful, so are babies and breastfeeding is the most natural thing to do for a mother and BLAHBLAHBLAH so the pee and poop thing is not quite as comparable. But please, if I don't want to see boobs, I just don't. That's my prerogative.

Just as it's yours to flash 'em, I guess.

What's making me giggle is that all these "Boobie" ID's just joined today so you know it's just another identity. Not too sure why someone would feel they need to change an ID to discuss breastfeeding though.

I haven't seen any "ignorance" spread on this forum. The only ignorance I am seeing is these new "Boobie" ID's banning together, be them VJr's or not trolling through a thread making something out of nothing. No one has said they were agains breastfeeding anyway did they? And, if they did, that's their prerogative, not yours, correct?

Anyway. I just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. I breastfed my first child until he was 14 months old. He never moved the blanket when I'd cover up (out of common courtesy to others) when feeding him in public. I did regret teaching him to call them "boo-boos" when we were in the store, and he announces loudly to all the people in the checkout line "I WANT BOO-BOOS!!!!" Queue me turning bright red.

I wanted to breastfeed my youngest for at least a year as well, since I knew how important it was to development. But I was under a lot fo stress between work and home and even though I pumped at work, my milk dried up and I had to wean him at 6 months. He ate formula until he was aobut 14 months old as well, which is when the transition to solid food was complete. Even though breastmilk is best (becuase of the natural antibodies that are transferred between mother and child) there are a lot of formulas that can provide as much nutrition as breastmilk.

I think each child is different, and each woman is different, and it's up to them how long they are going to breastfeed. I felt like a complete failure as a mother when my milk dried up and I wasn't able to feed my child anymore, but he still got as much love, attention, and food as he would have gotten if it hadn't. It's a very peronal choice for most people when to wean.

My Stepmother would still breastfeed my youngest haf-brother up until he was 5 years old. That creeped me out, but it was her choice. It's not like she did it in front of us; she'd only do it at night, to help him get to sleep. That being said, I personally wouldn't do it for that log becuase in my opinion it's a little gross.
