I'm not sure where it is? Did I misplace it somewhere? Did it fall out of my purse? Did I get it back last time I crossed the border? I tore my wallet and purse apart, looked through all my coat pockets. Checked the diaper bag and the folders that I have the boys IDs in.

#######, so anyone know what to do about a lost GC if I can't find it?

Thanks krikit. Hope I do find it. Go figure that it will cost another $290 plus a biometric fee. Does that mean I will have to do a biometric appointment again? Wouldn't they just have that in the computer from last time. Double ####### - because I would have to take a nice little 4 hour drive back to Fargo to get the biometrics redone.

I'm going to look again.

Come on neiks, you of all people should know better! Keeping Biometrics info on the computer, your funny! We all know one has to keep doing the appts over and over to fund BORDER GAURDS Christmas parties!! But honestly I have no clue, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Check down between the seats of the car or under the seats. Joe couldn't find one of his credit cards once and was panicking. We found it had slipped down in between the front seats of the car - took a bit to retrieve but we did.

Good luck - I hope you find it.

I have delusions that the US is far more techno. advanced than Canada. lol

That's funny Flames. Reminds me of my first Christmas party with a government department. I came from private enterprise where Christmas parties were paid for by the employer. I remember our group having dinner at the Keg and at the end of the meal the server started handing out bills. I was like - "there must be some mistake - the big guy over there (our Chief) should be picking it up" lol..... yah, right... welcome to the government and pay your for your own Christmas party. lol

Call the border you crossed at and ask if it is in the lost & found, if not keep looking. If its really lost then you are going to have to file your I-90. You can file it online (as I noticed was done in Necrotica's timeline). It would be a good idea to carry a print out of the I-90 application showing that you paid the fee and CIS is working on it. The fee is there to remind you that this isn't some "willy nilly" document that you only need to worry about if/when you cross the border. If you don't have it, that means someone out there does and may be attempting to use it illegally.

All that being said, good luck in finding it, hopefully its at the border.

Thanks! The border I cross at is pretty small and they all know me there. IF they have it I'm sure they are holding on to it until I come thru again. So, that is actually the best place it could be. But I'm thinking its' not there either as I'm sure they would have called me by now. I'm not really worried about getting across the border b/c like I said it's a small border and they all know I am legal and I still have my passport so I don't anticipate any problems there. I'm sure it's got to be here somewhere. I don't really go anywhere but I guess if I can't find it in my car by tommorrow I should report it missing - in case it did fall out of my purse somewhere.

Unless they know you like that and have your number they aren't going to call you. Don't think that "it's on file, they'll look it up"...they won't. If they have it and you call asking if its there they will happily and strongly suggest you go pick it up. Which border do you normally cross at?
