Hi Everyone,

As you all know, we as Canadians/Americans, are "so close yet so far" from our significant others in the USA/Canada...(as I mentioned in other posts)

So my questions to all of you is......

:star: How close/far away are/were you from your American/Canadian significant other? :star:

My (Ant's) answer: It's like a short drive into the next town (100-500 km/miles) (From Toronto, ON, Canada to a small town near Buffalo, NY, USA)

(lol..this was many years ago though...but now we are happily ever after together...here in the USA...)

"So close yet so far....and only a border, immigration, a lot of time, money, the USCIS, and stress get in the way!......"

Now it's your turn to answer the poll.....Happy Voting!

Ant (So close, yet so far...sigh...)

1,500 miles or about 2,500 kms from Welland, ON to the southern part of the Denver metro. Flying was basically a must. We drove it once when I was moving and we're very glad we would never need to attempt it again! It was pretty painful.

It was far, absolutely, but there are lots of people here on VJ who have it a lot harder than we did, so I don't feel like I have much room to complain.

When we first met he was living in Charlotte, NC, a short 1,200 kms from each other. We thought we had it rough... then he moved to Denver. It put everything into a better perspective. We were thankful for that year we could just get in a car and drive 10 hours to be together.

why are plane tickets from d.c. to montreal like six hundred bucks???

then there is the option of a ten hour drive but, that takes away from precious time right?

made it this far i suppose and everyday is one day closer.

8 hours by car, only an hour by plane. We were pretty lucky. No complaints here!

I'm curious how often you flew vs. drove Sapphire? Its just far enough that driving would be a pain, but close enough that it would suck sitting in an airport just to catch a 1 hour flight.

(I've met other VJers though...but not Canadian...sigh..it's not the same....as someone from the same country....)

Definitely we can arrange for something like that...It should be fun if/when we meet!

Care for a cup of timmys and timbits sometime? Lol....

PM me if you want to talk more about that.....;)

Good luck on your journey..Hope you get to NYS soon!

We must be about the same distance. I looked it up once and it said, ( according to flying I think) from Columbia, SC airport, to Comox, BC airport...2,500 miles. West meets East for sure!
