Hi everyone,

Today i received my packet 3 from the London embassy. Iam aware I will be having my medical examination within the next few weeks.

So I was hoping some of you could tell me what exactly happens during the medical?

Also is there a way in which you can fail the medical? I have no medical problems myself but I'm just curious and like to be well informed.

Thanks

Rhys

P.s. I will update my time line shortly.

If you health is good you should have absolutely nothing to worry about! They will take a chest xray and perform a routine thourough medical exam, draw blood etc... You will want to be calm and relaxed. Sometimes if you are nervous your blood pressure can be elevated. This is probably the most common problem (not really a problem). When I waited for my fiancee during her exam, there were others that had prolem with their BP because they were so worried and nervous about getting "pricked", but the nurse at the IOM told them to just relax and calm down. If their BP was high they gave them time to relax and rechecked and it was fine.

Just think of it as a regular exam you would have for employment or anything else and dont worry, you will be fine.

If you look at the top of the UK forum, there is a pinned thread about the medical exam at Knightsbridge. You can read hundreds of very detailed experiences of people who have had the medical.

You don't really pass or fail the medical. They just report to the Embassy and the officer there will decide if there is anything he feels disqualifies you from immigration to the US...like drug addiction, severe mental disorders where you would be a harm to yourself or others, sexually transmitted diseases. If you look at the medical questionnaire you fill out and take to the exam, if there is anything you would answer "yes" to, then take an explanation from your family doctor of the condition, how it was/is being treated. That's things like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, depression, etc. The Knightsbridge doctor will want a little more background on things like that from a qualified physician who has treated you. Somebody recently reported being given a urine test, but that's not normally done.

Don't exaggerated you beer drinking skills as one bloke did. Don't smoke a joint the night before the medical exam. People have gotten long delays trying to prove they weren't alcoholics or addicts. Not sure that either of those two ever got resolved with a visa.

There is a really helpful thread pinned to the top of this forum...it has some very detailed experiences and even photos and directions on how to get there.

You should have nothing to worry about though, it's pretty straight forward and they make you feel quite at ease.

Good luck :)
