Hello everyone. I am in the process of compiling my documents to submit my 1 129 f. My fiancee lives in goiania goias brasil. My question is: would you recommend she send her 325-a and notice of intent to marry letter to me via sedex or just regular mail. I notice sometimes when i mail a letter to brazil through normal mail it can take a while. I mailed my fiancee a card almost 3 weeks ago and she still has not recieved it. I don' know if it was because i included the flashcard for my digital camera or what. I don't want a big delay in receiving her documents. We want to get married in Aug. or Sep. here in the u.s. so time is of the essence.

thanks

It seems that when you mail to Brazil it takes a while. My in laws mailed me some documents and used priority but it took more than a month.

Every time I have to mail to the US if it's emergency I use the "Importa facil" but it's always about R$50 (reais), takes 10 days.

If it's not so important, she can pay a cheaper one, that is about R$15 (reais) and it takes about 15 - 20 days.

Tell her to go to the post office and they will explain what her options are.

Good luck!

I am not too familiar with mailing to and from Brazil but if its anything like Vietnam I would not use standard mail service or even USPS Priority mail. When we sent important documents (especially anything containing private or personal data or information we would use fedex or UPS depending on what service is available in the local area of the foreign country. Problem with USPS is that while is is pretty relaible and controlled within the borders of the US, once it arrives to the foreign country you never can be sure what may happen to it. I know the mail service in Vietnam is less than relaible and lots of things come up missing.

Its worth the reassureance and money to use a reputable private service such as fedex.

edit: the expansive one is guarantee and she will be able to track it online. The R$15 one she can only track when it's within Brazil. Both are guarantee as the Brazilian mailing system is on the top 10 in the world, but if it's important documents I'd pay the R$50.
