I am so happy, my interview has been scheduled for 1 March 2010

Out of interest, how do they deny people entry into the U.S. once they have the interview date, what could make them not give me the visa?

I'm not sure of your question, are you thinking of visiting your fiance in the US? Yes, they can deny you entry for whatever reason whenever they feel like it. They will likely claim 'lack of ties' to your home country. When do you travel, bring strong ties to SA when you travel to the States.

I think the main reason they deny a K-1 visa is if you can't provide proof of a bona fide relationship with your fiance (sponsor).

It's rare that they deny entry on a K1, but not unheard of. I believe a recent Canadian case was due to her having a conviction that the Montreal embassy decided wasn't grounds for a waiver, but the border guys did. She was sent back but recently had their decision overturned and her visa was re-issued.

If you're talking about visiting before your visa is issued, as others have said insufficient ties. Please remember once your visa is issued, you can't enter and then leave until your AOS has been submitted and you've received your AP.
