The ad clearly made the point that this is a superior alternative to search.

Except... search is free! kgb ain't.

Nope. They've been hawking this for a while now. At least all the way through this year's football season, it's been a regular series of ads.

It's a lame service targeting lame morons. Plus, it's a Soviet conspiracy to turn us all into commies. Oh wait, that's the Obama administration...........

I wonder how they're doing. Is there really that big of a market for search-spoonfeeding? Can the kind of people with poor search skills who are intimidated by "a bunch of links" really afford paying a buck per answer?

Never, ever underestimate the capacity of Americans to be lazy and wasteful with their money. This is the nation that invented drive thru restaurants, dude, and use them to load up on Supersized meals who's package price often is larger than the cost of the actual items they would have paid if they just selected what they really wanted.
