Should I show my I-20 in this situation?

Hi all,

I was an F-1 international student 2008 since I got into a gradschool in the USA, in 2009 I got married and now my status is US Permanent Resident (Temporary). I am inviting my parents to attend my commencement this May, should my parents show Visa Officer my I-20 during the visa interview? (they are all foreign nationals!) I have been holding US PR status for over 3 months now.

I am worried that my change of status would cause failure of my parents' visa interview. Anybody has similar experience as mine?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Mag

You can send them an invitation letter. There isn't much else you can do.

Your parents will apply for the visa on their own merits showing strong ties to home.

I can't see any reason why your parents would show your I-20 in order to get visas for themselves.

Your I-20 is proof of your immigration status as an F-1. Your parents need to provide their own proof of status as bona fide non-immigrants (B-2's), not try to piggyback on whatever status you may have had in the past or currently have now.
