So last Monday, I posted off all the stuff for our I-129F to the fiance. Royal Mail website said AirSure was 2-4 working days. Post office chick said 5-7 days, so it should have arrived by today.

But then on the weekend, I realised that I hadn't put a customs sticker on the package, so my suspicion is that it's stuck in customs.

Money is an issue for us right now. Every spare penny needs to go on saving for this process. I'm loathe to fork out £40 for FedEx to overnight my G-325A, the photos and another cheque, which are in my possession for our joint account.

But until he gets the package, we can't file, even if he just prints it all out his end. We're working to a tight deadline as it is, because we really want to be there by mid-August so that my daughter can start school with the rest of her class. Every day that goes by, is one less processing day. I feel like we've already waited months for my divorce to be finalised and now this.

So, do I wait out the customs thing and give them til tomorrow and then just send a whole new packet WITH the sticker this time or do I put the FedEx on my already groaning credit card? Knowing my luck, I'll end up forking it out and then both will arrive on Wednesday! lol..

Yup, I know I'm going to have to get used to delays, waiting, bureaucracy but OMG, I want to go kick the post office chick in the groin for not telling me to put a customs sticker on a parcel that she KNOWS was going to the US because she had to enter the details on the AirSure bill. And according to the tracking number, Royal Mail have passed it onto the foreign postal service for delivery in the US of A.

ARGHHHHHH deliver the damned thing! Pleeeeeeeeze!!

lol, ok, that's out of my system. Kinda....

I agree with Muffin. If you're freaking out and your petition isn't even filed yet, its going to be an awfully long and frustrating process for you, regardless of how long it takes.

I know, I'm fully prepared for the wait once it's filed. Just excited to get the process going, I guess! As soon as I know it's sent and arrived, I'll settle down, promise. lol

Are you guys getting a co-sponsor?

I agree with waiting too.

Yup, we are. He's job-hunting as we speak as he's sick of being in a situation where he's stuck in a no-prospect job that pays a pittance. The irony is we'll be better off once we're able to merge finances and pay just one set of bills.

I'm about to start finding out by going through old posts whether they will accept a notarized agreement from my ex to pay child support to the tune of $x a month as part of the I-864, since it's a source of income that will continue for me after adjustment.

What job does he have now? And you, are you going to give notice or did you already do that?

He works for a family run restaurant and is planning on going back to school come the Autumn, whilst continuing to work, so needs something that will offer him somewhat flexible hours so he can do both.

And my income here doesn't have any bearing on the process, except from a saving before moving point of view. They know that I'm immigrating, but I'm only required to give 1 month's notice. Out of courtesy, I'll give them more than that so they can fill my position.

Airsure is the worst Royal Mail service EVER! I wish you had posted when you were contemplating how to send it. Don't worry - it'll get there it'll just take a while.

For some reason when I sent something to Ricky using airsure it took a few weeks. If I send stuff normal delivery it's less than 5 working days.

Be patient :)

I'd say wait it out just a little bit longer. We, like you, are not exactly doing well for money, and 40 pounds is a lot lot lot for some documents (even if they're really important). Make up for lost time by researching the heck out of what comes after NOA2 and having it all prepared to send away as soon as packet 3 comes!!

Our naturalization timeline
1/12/2015 - Application sent to Phoenix service center by USPS priority mail

1/14/2015 - Package received in Phoenix

1/16/2015 - NOA date (hard copy received 1/22)

1/20/2015 - Check cashed

2/09/2015 - Biometrics

2/11/2015 - In line for interview

3/28/2015 - Hard copy interview notice received

4/29/2015 - Interview at Chicago field office - Approved!!!

5/22/2015 - Oath ceremony - Now a US citizen!!!!!!

Thank you, VisaJourney!!!!!

It seems to take about 10 days for anything to come from England to Arizona madame, so give it a bit. :-) Also your money does help on the 864 cause there's a place on there for adding it. I added Nigel's. Also on the American end, me as the petitioner however, did count court ordered child support and it does count on the 134 in London interview. It saved my a$$ in a major way. As long as its court ordered. It helped I had bank statements showing the deposits however, i sent that to Nigel last minute, helped too. MAKE THAT MAN OF YOURS DO SOME WORK....sounds like your doing it all and then your going to get all uptight on him about doing or not doing things so get into the habit of having HIM do something and give him some practice! :-) Keep ur chin up girlie, ur in for a ride!

LOL - We were just joking about this earlier. Told him that it was bizarrely romantic seeing his sig on the scan of the letter of intent. He said "well don't forget, since you assembled all the paperwork, it apparently means I don't love you!" which was based on some trite comment passed on another post I had been telling him about. There was no argument about having some serious make-up effort to put in on his part when I get there :D

The danged parcel arrived the day I DHLed a replacement. But that was fine by me because I realised I only included 1 copy of the G-325a and that I should include proof of name change docs in the form of my first marriage certificate. So we just waited for the new set to arrive and now it's all signed, sealed, mailed.... and whaddya know, the Man did all that! lol...

I'm not gonna get uptight, not my style, lol. He's asking the right questions (so what do I need to get ready next?) and expressing the right responses (well, when do we hear about it? Seriously? Dammit, I'm all excited about having sent it off and we have to wait??) lol...

As for the money, it's not court ordered but it will be in a notarized statement of arrangements and care. By the time we AOS, I'll have received at least one payment in $ to our US account, so would use both those as evidence. I dunno if I can get it in front of a judge in AZ without the ex being there too. I need to consult with a family attorney in AZ to make sure that the wording for parental responsibility and sole custody will be honored according to state laws. Gah, it's irritating when you've not needed to resort to court orders for your child's arrangements, coz you've managed perfectly nicely for the past 8 years without the strong arm of the law...

OMG, yes! I went to the post office on day 9 and asked what the heck.... she said, well you can track it. I said, 'Yeah.... as far as "meh, we got it over the waters, what more d'ya want?'

I actually found a website that subcontracts DHL and TNT services or something. Cost £17.86 for a 2 day service with DHL (compared with the £11.98 with AirSure's sometime in the eventual future service) and omg it was totally trackable. I posted the actual tracking screenshot on our blog coz it was that entertaining. And I wanna be on the england to new york flight that only takes 3.5 hours!!! That's faster than CONCORD! lol...

We used USPS priority with delivery signature. Figure it'll get there Monday or Tuesday. I'm just glad it's submitted. Now the real wait begins!
