i was reading thrugh all the VJ forums and i saw lots of other couples were able to visit each other. my fiance is from the philippines and so we decided to go ahead tomorrow and try for the visitors visa while the k1 is pending.. we filed the k1 on NOV 4th. i will call tomorrow and have her a interview set up in manila for the visitors visa.. my quesiton is what are they going to ask her in the interview?.. i know one of the main request is to make sure she has proof she is coming back to the philippines... she has a 1 year old son that we listed on the k1 and were bringing on the k1 visa as a k2.. is this good enough proof to show them that she will return? can we tell them we will be coming back to finish the k1 visa and pick up her child on the k2? u think it will pass? cuz we would never leave aeko behind and will def complete the k1 and bring him here.. so that is more than enough proof she will return right to get our kid and finish the k1. what do u guys think?

usually, for a tourist visa - the applicant (not a USC) has to show strong ties to the country (in this case, PI) - via:

1. showing some employment letter

2. showing holiday time letter from employer

3. showing a lease or mortgage or deed to a house.

4. showing bank accounts with amounts

5. listing all relatives in the PI and 'what they do for money' (but thats mostly optional, useful for a 'university woman' )

The ConOff assumes (via mandate and governing policies, btw) that the intending tourist has the want, need, and desire to IMMIGRATE, and it's up to the applicant (again, not the USC) to prove up that THIS is NOT the case.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I know how badly you want to see your girl again but I think you will just be wasting money.

During my medical exam in Manila for the K1 Visa, I met a couple who was denied for a visitor's visa twice. Their daughter in the U.S. (naturalized) decided to just file an immigrant visa for them. At the airport before I flew back to Cebu, I also met an RN who has an American fiance. The U.S. citizen spent lots of money to help her get a tourist visa. Same story. She got denied twice. That means all three of them were denied the first time and they reapplied.

Why are you so worried about bringing her to the US on anything but a fiancee of spousal visa?

According to your avatar, your girlfriend is in the Philippines. The Philippines allows Americans to stay in the Philippines up to 21 days with nothing but a valid passport. You can just fly over there and see her, as long as you book the round trip to leave within three weeks or less. The Passport is about a hundred dollars if you must renew it.

Hi!

I had a successful B2 visa interview but let me STRESS that i had the interview BEFORE we filed for the K1 visa.

Questions are:

1. What's the purpose of your visit to the US?

2. Are you employed?

3. Who will you visit in US?

4. How long will you be staying there?

5. Where are you staying in the Phils? Apt, Townhouse etc?

6. Are you engaged?

At that time I was also employed in a multi-national company and had a property in Metro Manila. When I visited my then bf (now husband) I was again asked by the Customs officer at my POE if I was engaged. I said no --the purpose of that visit was really to try and see if I would like it here in US. I thought it was weird that they kept asking me if I was engaged but maybe they were trying to see if I have a pending petition or if I am trying to migrate in the US thru my B2 visa.

Goodluck!

We also where sucessfull on geting a B2 visa but we did obtain this Visa prior to applying for our K1. I think will see that you have a K1 in process and tell you to wait for it. If you have time, money to burn and can handle a little extra stress then you can try. Good luck!
