AOS Filers: February 2010

Ditto for us. No touches on I-485 (AOS) since it first showed up in on-line status on March 3. It's been almost four months since we filed. At what point should we consider calling?

Nobody responded to this question, so I'll re-post. Today is Day 121 since we filed. At what point will USCIS entertain an inquiry from us about the status? It's my understanding that if one calls USCIS prematurely, they will not even speak with you. What does USCIS officially consider their AOS processing time? At this point, we're thinking all kinds of possibilities, like the CSC didn't receive our file when it was supposed to be transferred.

Then again, if other Feburary filers' timelines are correct, there are other transferred cases that have not yet been processed, so I suspect we are not alone.

Congratulations to those who received or are about to receive their GC. I wish we had been given an interview, because it appears that my wife would have her GC by now.

We aren't very far behind you...if I calculated correctly, we are at Day 100 as of today and we've heard nothing on my hubby's at all since our case was transferred to CSC. As far as when you can call and be considered outside the processing time, I THINK it's after 90 days. That's what the USCIS hotline will usually say...you have to be past 90 days to be considered outside the standard processing time. I say it certainly wouldn't hurt anything for you to call...might be a waste of a few minutes of your time if they won't give you any info though. Good Luck!

Yep...it is! Hubby is happy with having his EAD but would realllyyy love to have the GC too! At least through this process we are together!

I got GC approval sent notice text and email yesterday on 06/01/2010. I am sure it will get to me within 3 days.

This notice is the third notice I got for GC. Hope everybody who is waiting for theirs get soon.

I wonder what the holdup is ... some people on the K-1 fee increase thread think that the fee hike is justified because it results in speedier processing times (crapola). If that's the case, then why are CSCs in our group now stuck in limbo?

Hello All and Congrats to all Approvals, GC arrivals and updates. We have not been here for a while...so we had some catching up to do. My husband has been working since receiving his EAD so we have been trying not to worry about the GC status. But out of curiosity we did call USCIS, the first time the system was down, the second time we did get the opportunity to speak with an IO and was told some information that we had not heard before.

Basically, we were told that cases are transferred to CSC when the local field office is behind, so CSC does the initial verification and request any information that may be needed, process EAD and AP...only on some rare occasions does CSC approves those cases but generally the cases are held at CSC and then transferred to the local field office for final approval or possible interview. So, this entire time we were thinking that being transferred to CSC means, no interview, but according to the IO that is not entirely true. As for checking the processing times online, the IO said that we should not be looking at CSC processing times, but the processing times for your local field office. The IO ended by telling us that we would have a decision or interview within 6 months.

SIX MONTHS?! Anyway, interesting. And maybe true, maybe not. I wouldn't count on a person whose job is to field phone questions knowing whether, statistically speaking, a transferred case is more likely or less likely to be interviewed. Am I mistaken, or have we seen a significant number of people on VJ whose cases were transferred not receive an interview?

Also, I thought the "initial verification" and any requests for information was carried out by the Chicago office where we mailed the AOS application to, not the local field office, and that only after that stage would it be sent to the local field office. No? If the only purpose of the Chicago Lockbox is to forward applications to applicants' local field offices, then why are we not instructed to simply send the applications directly to our local field offices? Something doesn't sound correct to me.

Any others have thoughts?

Methinks you'll get it on my b-day (next Friday), give or take a day. Seems to be the pattern in this forum, with III-III and others.
