Interview done and Green Card approved!!! Wooohoooo :)

Interview Experience

We arrived at the federal building about an hour before the interview appointment and slowly made our way through the entrance security. It took at least 20 minutes to get through security, and then we went to the USCIS AOS Office. Once inside, we had to give my interview letter to an officer and were told to wait in a fairly large waiting area which was almost empty. Then, ten minutes before our actual appointment, we were called in and immediately sworn in by the IO who then proceeded to ask if we were still deeply in love. Afterwards we were told to sit down and to take out all joint evidence we brought and staple it for him. It wasn't looked at a single time throughout the entire interview, all he did was put it in a file... frustrating considering how much time we spent compiling it.

The IO then proceeded to ask questions such as how we would characterize each other, if we knew the names of each other's siblings and parents etc. and kept filling out a large form while interviewing us. Every two or three questions he would try to trap us with asking about information that was wrong (which he knew), from giving us a false count of our siblings to passport expiration dates. I got a bit nervous because I didn't know whether this was just his routine, or he was not believing us. He also asked if we were married before and if I was an alcoholic?!?! and other strange questions.

After about 30 minutes he then proceeded to place a huge red stamp on one of his forms, filled out a welcome letter for me, placed another red stamp on it as well, and then shook my hand telling me that I'm now a conditional resident :) and that my green card will arrive within about two weeks. After that, for another 5 minutes or so, he kept telling us that it is important to file the I-751 in time and even had me write it down on the back of the welcome letter.

And that was it! We were out of the building in no time and super happy :D :D

Yesterday, on Day 70, we received a text message that EAD card production was ordered and status was available on-line. We were beginning to worry. Since transfer to the CSC almost two months ago, there have been no touches or anything until now. We've never received a single e-mail, despite filing the I-1145. Good thing we also requested text message notification.

While this is great, we really hope to receive AP in the next few days, as my wife (the AOS applicant) has plans to travel back to Belgium next Wednesday to see her parents for the first time since we were married (on New Year's Eve last year). It would not be fun to have to pay to change that ticket or have to request, ahem, "emergency" AP.

Congrats to you others who have received good news! GC's being approved already--awesome!
